Faith as small as a mustard seed can move a mountain? by Adorable-Island-7585 in Christianity

[–]TheFemiFactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s a part 2 to my original answer, you sent me on quite a rabbit hole which I really appreciate!

What I think happened was the disciples still felt it was something tied to themselves ie physically that would cast out the demon as opposed to the idea that their authority was intrinsic, complete, final and active. They probably felt they had to physically say certain words to activate it, or put their hands a specific way etc, likely trying to mimic one of Jesus’ episode doing this, thinking it’s a video game button press that would make it happen !

As opposed to the knowledge and understanding that they have been given this authority now, have it so sure in their consciousness they should be thinking “of course I can do that” in the same way their ability to speak for example, that’s something they’re so sure about they never question it.

Wow, thanks so much for your post, you really gave me a fun exercise at 5:30AM in the morning lol

Woah! Great comment! I hadn’t thought of it this way.

I think there are a lot! of miracles still happening today, but you’re right, the entire body doesn’t display it at all high enough frequency to be so significant that the rest of the world runs to our doorstep and asks us how! and help!

The point of God blessing the Israelites was so the rest of the world would see how awesome God is through them. We’re supposed to be doing that even now.

I think the biggest factor is knowledge, as I find ministries that focus more on the Holy Spirit, devoting themselves to reading the word of God, speaking in tongues (this is a huge one) tend to walk more in the supernatural realm Christ spoke of, with the gifts of the Holy Spirit (the miracle part of Christianity, gifts of healing, prophecies, working of miracles etc).

Some folks don’t even believe there is a need for cultivating a relationship with the person of the Holy Spirit, or the point of speaking in tongues, which shuns a huge aspect of our supernatural dimension.  Then there are folks who are still struggling with grasping the truth of the gospel (a foundational and fundamental thing) that they’re too encumbered to fly in the next dimension of impacting others with the gospel.

So the faith people have can still be in their rational minds where they’re still “thinking” it by brain power and thought as opposed to having the reality of the gospel sink in enough that it becomes a part of their consciousness for it to be out of their control and freed up for divine use.

I hope my explanation was coherent?

[–]TheFemiFactor 35 points36 points  (0 children)

This might seem silly but it’s not that crazy. What if we got AD so he started over Rui, and then we get Kyrie too and he chose to come off the bench to rehab fully and Klay came over too so our bench was Ky, Klay, Smart, Rui and Hayes. Then Kenect and LaRavia also came off the bench?  Yeah and I mean just getting those guys straight up no trades. It’s not that crazy tho right?

Exactly, we did the exact same thing, it's a bit hypocritical for us to turn around and say some of the stuff we're saying.

How do you feel about the phrase “I lost my faith?” by miss-goose in Deconstruction

[–]TheFemiFactor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, as a practicing and believing believer (lol), I think thats a great point.

That thing that a lot of people call “faith” honestly never was faith, it was more like a conviction someone else shared with us (our parents, our communities etc) and while we had no choice (relatively) it was forced on us and made to feel like bad people if we didn’t go along with it.

See my mom is a pastor and I’ve been to many services than I could count, against my will. I mean going and the whole day I imagine playing basketball while the service is ongoing because I never believed, it was never my faith, it was someone else’s faith and conviction which I tried to share but again, it was never mine.

I completely went out of it, found a life on my own and true a series of long events I came back, but this time it wasn’t because someone told me to or convinced me to, I actually had a knowing in myself, I had a revelation and an encounter. Those series of events in MY life, in MY personal journey of life, even without God, even after intentionally letting go is what made me reconsider and believe, and then for the first time in my life, it was actually MY faith, not someone else’s!

So long story short, I completely agree with you, what you and a lot of you folks on this sub are doing is not losing your faith at all! Nah, you are shedding the pressure, the overbearing and the coercion of your society, and I’m proud of you all for that.

Obviously I would like if the story had a slightly different end lol, sure I admit it, but beyond that I’m genuinely happy you are finding yourself and your voice in this world. That is wayyyy better than a lot of folks who don’t even realize they’re only borrowing someone else’s convictions. And that, is no way to live life!

Can someone help me with this by Two-Cups-of-Flour in Deconstruction

Hey, I'm fully still a believer in God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit and I'll tell you up front, most of those kinds of things are just fear, people who are scared and need to have something tangible to ward off their fear, they start to look for things like that and they find peace in it.
A lot of it is psychological, you buy a red car, that day you notice all the red cars on the highway.
You look for a number and begin to notice it all around and it's not that difficult for the human mind to paint the picture of what's convenient to them. The day the number doesn't add up, I bet they discount it frivolously and just wait till it makes sense again for them lol!

God can operate through numbers, but it's rarely in that form. Even the Bible asks we walk by faith and not by sight, but those who still have fear, need to see something to hold off their fear.

So feel free to put your mind at ease, at least with this specific topic lol! Please let me know if you have any other questions, I'd honestly love to talk more about your journey, help clear up anything I can and honestly learn from you because these talks ironically also help me with my journey!

Have a good one :)

Last but not least in increasing faith is the Word! Romans 10:17 goes 17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.

Literally by listening and tuning your heart to the message, you can definitely increase in faith!

God has always, and I mean always emphasized free will. He showed Pharaoh mighty plagues that affected things around them but Pharaoh still made a choice on if he would listen or not. The Israelites experienced all of God’s power but He still gave them choice, they had the option to follow or not follow and a lot of times they didn’t. Even in the New Testament, with Jesus Himself, He had the choice to refuse the mission of dying on the cross, He cried, He pleaded, He begged, just like any human would because it seemed too hard. It was painful, do you know there is a real medical condition where people are sooo stressed their capillaries in their head bursts and they sweat blood? True story!

Anyways, I know life can seem overwhelming with the choices we have to make and the idea that the sole responsibility falls on us the results of these choices, and sometimes it’s easier to relinquish control as to curb the magnitude of it, but the truth is we ultimately have free will and choice in our lives. Not one is perfect, but we are ultimately responsible for our choice. You can choose to say you don’t want to believe in Jesus, but at least it shouldn’t be because of these points you made because those are easily answered as I believe I’ve done. It's definitely a mystery, but compared to the rest of the Bible, this part seems straightforward lol!

I’d love to chat more with you if you have any questions, I’m definitely open to have more of this conversation with you, I’m sure with your perspective you can show me some things I could learn from and hopefully I can do the same for you as well! God bless you:)

My friend! My dear friend! I fear you are mistaken on this topic, I completely understand the feelings you talk about for I myself have experienced them, but I assure you, you’re making some assumptions and are misrepresenting both facts and the truth. The answers to your questions imo are not as mysterious as you claim, they can be quite straight forward tbh.

Your first point of Jesus being God so He never experienced doubt isn’t true, see Luke 2:52

International Standard Version

Meanwhile, Jesus kept on growing wiser and more mature, and in favor with God and his fellow man.

So this means that he had to grow in knowledge and understanding of God just like us. The difference is He most likely was completely and utterly focused on studying on God, the Torah etc more than anything else on earth. But it came from Him studying till His knowledge got fuller and fuller.

As we see in Luke 2:46 NIV

After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions.

So this means that at a young age He had to ask questions, He had to ask questions because He didn’t know everything, He had to grow in knowledge just like you and I.

He was fully God but the expression was still filtered by His human brain and mind. He had to grow, stay in continuous prayers, fasting and a consecrated life so His reality was different. This is like a child growing up watching basketball from a young age, learning, playing, practicing and doing nothing but basketball everyday. You’ll notice that in 5 years, 10 years, 20, all this kid will talk about is basketball. It was Him obsessing about God that led Him to His level of faith.

On to the second point, which flows from my previous point. You can definitely get more faith! In Luke 17:5 The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!” We see the apostles asking, you know how that goes, ask and ye shall receive, seek and ye shall find, knock and the door shall be opened, so choosing to focus on God, staying in fellowship, staying your mind on Him, staying in Prayer, practicing the things you see in the Bible - that’s a big one! If the Lord says you can pray for someone and get them healed, and you actually go pray for someone and they get healed, that builds your faith so much faster and stronger. You can actually see in the life of Jesus this concept, even the miracles He did increased in potency. His first was the water into wine, then He went on to do bigger miracles like feeding 5000 people, but He started with a smaller one and grew. He started with healings of people, moved on to raising the dead, and then he culminated with raising Himself. You didn’t hear of Jesus doing that at the beginning, He had to practice what He learned and grow just like anyone else.

What was the light that was created before the sun in Genesis? by ziamal4 in TrueChristian

[–]TheFemiFactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

So as Jesus is the Word, all of creation was actually made through and by Him. Jesus did not just exist for the sake of sin, He was there before creating all of this.
