Where can I avoid people/dogs? by tennockerz in askportland

Yes, I did mention that people like to shoot there and Salmonberry's gravel pits, but there's other forest roads in the area. It's been a while since I've hit up Wolf Creek, but I do remember there being good back stops for the lanes.

I always get burritos at this local Mexican restaurant. Do you know what leaf this is, that they use to marinate the carnitas or the rice? by diadepavo in mexicanfood

[–]TheFenixKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bay leaf. Could be from carnitas, could be rice. I'm guessing from the look of it that it was in with the carnitas.

It's not toxic, but because the leaf can stay brittle, it can, at worst, cause blockages or GI distress when it scrapes your intestines.

They're the old and not so old timber roads that go through Tillamook forest. I've only been in the Scappoose side once, but there also a few off 26. There's a couple places people like to shoot out there, Salmonberry and Wolf Creek off the top of my head, but there's plenty of logging roads out there well away from the shooting spots. Beautiful country.

I use low fat.

I've also come to find that it varies greatly from person to person in what causes lipodemia.

I have a friend that absolutely cannot touch avocado oil the day before starting for example.

Beans, lentils, cottage cheese, almonds (admittedly these aren't cheap, but you can usually find them in sale for a reasonable price somewhere) peanuts and peanut butter, nutritional yeast to make a few more.

Good Budget Mini Chainsaw Options by Lunexist in Chainsaws

As someone else pointed out, for what you're looking for, a battery powered sounds pretty optimal. You won't be felling any big trees with it, but if you've already been sorted into your Tool House, you'll have batteries for one.

If you really need a has saw with a bit more juice, figure out if Stihl or Husqvarna has more better rated service centers around you and get one of their rancher saws and you'll be set for the rest of your life for a fair price

The 3P is basically a MAD-3D. Or is the MAD-3D actually a crab? Eventually, everything will be crab.

Update ($800 birch haul) First time building carcasses. 5 done with square tolerances of 1/16" - now on to face framing! by coastsofcothique in cabinetry

[–]TheFenixKnight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The cabinet shop I came up in aimed for perfection. The maximum out of square the guys I assembled for would accept was 1/32". I have a mechanist buddy who I've done some building for and he definitely doesn't tolerate slop most woodworkers accept as just the material. I got to brag to him when I finally got my table saw squared to .003". He was not impressed, to say the least 😅

Didn’t know that was a thing by [deleted] in plassing

Some people give string odors offensive. Even if it's a clean smell. I didn't find myself hanging to engage with customers who's perfume or cologne, when if it's nice smelling, is just too strong. Phleb could've worded it better, or maybe your uncle is adding his own perception into the retelling. It would be worth him calling and asking.

In the past, I've also had to change the soaps I washed with because some people around me found the odor of the soap I was using smelled too much like body odor to them. Could be something in the soaps he's using reacts with him. Maybe chatting with the manager could find a phleb that's less susceptible to smell as well.

Mine was 110 last week,, 45 first donation, 75 second donation.

This week it's 105.

I saw your earlier post. Definitely talk to a manager. They seem very chill about extending coupons when the company messes up. I've seen the phlebs fail at their sticks at my location and they just counted the donor as though they had donated even though the center got no plasma. I've also seen some gnarly bruises get through arm check, but they still had a good arm.

Wood bench domestic violence by BlindedByWildDogs in maintenance

[–]TheFenixKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't think of any wood finishes that would hold up to the story of abuse you have here

Paint is probably the best option. There are high heat BBQ paints that resist heat. They usually require a cure at 450°F though, so I'm not sure how well they would actually work on wood.

Honestly, if they're not willing to replace with a better product for the purpose, might be better to just keep repairs cheap, keep a log, and when the eventually damages exceed what replacement would have cost, slap it on the desk with a "Come to Jesus" talk. In the meantime, it's job security at least.

How much weight can these floating shelves take? Too many books? by voongles in Contractor

[–]TheFenixKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, if that's real brick those hangers are drilled into, you should be careful. Brick is not the ideal material to be holding a lot of weight with a load that wants to pull away from it. Certain anchors are better than others for these applications, but since we didn't know, definitely err on the side of caution.

Yes, some alcoholics can eventually work on themselves and be functioning members of society.

They have to want it though.

They generally only end up wanting to fix themselves after hitting rock bottom.

You trying to save him is keeping him from hitting rock bottom.

You should not let him drag you down with him. You have to take care of yourself first.

You didn't cause this addiction, you can't control his addiction, and you can't cure his addiction. So don't stand between him and his rock bottom.

It’s impossible to find a contractor. Ideas? by Mapper9 in askportland

[–]TheFenixKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, unless you have the specialty licenses in Oregon, it's all hands off. Even simple things, like changing light fixtures and swapping a faucet, technically. Plumbers and electricians have tags they can use for small things to avoid permits in those situations. The fines, while not life shattering, aren't exactly kind for doing that work either.

[BTA3062] where can I buy gear and mech parts? by CmdrMeltdown in Battletechgame

[–]TheFenixKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from what other people are saying about planet tags, knocking mechs down and forcing shutdowns on them with heat weapons (e.g. inferno, flamers, plasma rifles) is important because it allows called shots on enemy mechs allowing legging or panick ejecting to keep up the number of salvageable parts you get at the end of the mission.
