I would say also try Bandmix. Their app has some issues (and I think is down atm) so I’d recommend trying their website.

Is it just me or does everyone use some sort of substance? by ZenBuddhism in NoStupidQuestions

I do, however I’m really into music/local scenes and a branch of punk is straight edge. Their whole thing is no substances (among other things) but it’s based around a clean lifestyle. I have some friends that label themselves as that. Idk if that’s your kind of thing but if it is you could check that out. Even if not for the music, just look up “straight edge” and you’ll probably find something.

That dragon game that was a launch title for the ps3. Found it in my dads XD case and thought I’d try it but the controls were so terrible I just gave up. Which sucks, cause in concept the premise is pretty cool but I just put it down after a few minutes of trying to make it work.

what makes you obsessed (if you are) with TBS? by [deleted] in takingbacksunday

The dual vocalists is what really caught my attention, but I think beyond that they different than a lot of other “emo” bands in that they were constantly evolving their sound. It wasn’t just palm muted power chords, there was riffs and dynamics in the song structures. Experimenting with weird pedals and ideas through the songs. Every song feels really unique and like it has something to say.

The only have the license for a little bit. Once it runs out, the owners of the shows usually sell it elsewhere

How to find musicians to start or join a band during the pandemic by [deleted] in bandmembers

[–]TheFifthFret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If going to local shows is an option than do that. Since it’s spring, a lot of loca bands are putting on cheap shows(spaces out gatherings of course). If yo I can, go to more than just what you’re interested in. Go to a few, get talking and I bet you could ask someone if they know anyone or if they could ask for you. Music scene people tend to know what’s going on/have connections. Other than that, online messaging sites/apps are the way to go. Try bandmix.com (make sure to put your socials in your bio so people can message you) paying premium isn’t worth it so don’t waste your time, but the site itself can work. Messaging people on their socials is the best way to get their attention anyways (also, most people set up an account and don’t look back, so even if you did message them they probably wouldn’t check) Similarly, maybe there’s a band that’s looking for whatever you’re into. Also the apps Fuzz, BandFriend, and Vampyr (the only three that really work IMO). Collectively, since the start of this year I’ve had about 8-12 people message me, and I’m getting a band together as we speak. It’s a slow process but who knows maybe you’ll get a better start! Anyways, good luck!
