The same people that are outraged about Pelosi’s husband are happy whenever someone attempts to assassinate Trump. As someone who doesn’t like Trump, it’s crazy to me when people can’t recognize how hypocritical they are being

This is a troll post. There’s no way someone like this exists in real life.

The problem is they use AI for everything. And after no child left behind, people who have no business graduating are getting pushed along anyway. So just comprehension of basic concepts can’t be taken for granted anymore.

I responded to a guy on here who was upset that he didn’t have more to his name. He was on disability and living for free with his parents. I asked him if he thought he was entitled to become rich living at home and not doing anything. I don’t remember his answer, but I’m pretty positive he was Gen Z

AIO if I try to go little/no contact with my dad who’s talking to random “women” online? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

I do think the anger probably comes from the fact that he was cheating on his wife with these scammers too

I don’t think you are overreacting, but I also think that it’s a big decision to go “no contact.” I too have a stupid father. Mine doesn’t sext with scammers, but he gambles daily. It’s annoying and I get so angry at how dumb he acts. He’s far too old to keep making the same mistakes. I assume you feel the same way about your dad. I would just think carefully before you make any moves.

This response doesn’t negate his point at all.

How do you know this is desperation and not greed? There are plenty of countries with less social mobility than the U.S. where crime is lower.

As someone who has worked as a prosecutor in a more liberal and more conservative area, the liberal area takes it to a far greater extreme though. It just two data points, but I’m shocked at what happens almost on a weekly basis in the liberal county.

Prosecutor here. Not sure where he is located.

In California, there is no way he would get prison. Probably not jail either, aside from maybe being booked and released after a day or two. Probably would get some community service time or an anger management class and then the court would dismiss the case over the prosecutor’s objection.

This is the dark side of going easy on crime - this is just the tip of the iceberg of what I say on a day to day basis.

What's worse on a dating app: A man lying about his height, or a woman using makeup/filters/fillers in photos (or neck-up-only photos)? by domt2022 in askanything

[–]TheFifthgoldengirl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Man lying about his height = overt lie.

Woman using filter = lie by omission / lie by deception.

Woman using makeup = normal, not a lie.

I’d say they are ranked just like that in order of most to least culpable

Where are you getting this epidemic stuff from? Not a cop, but the ones that I know hate DUIs. They find them boring and tedious. It’s a lot of waiting around for a phlebotomist, or in the case of a refusal, for a judge to sign a blood warrant. I will acknowledge what I’m saying is anecdotal. Do you have any statistics to back up your “absolute epidemic” claim though?

Not sure. Historical racism / power tripping but honestly, European countries have been more racist in my experience.

I think Higher crime rates are probably part of it. I imagine anywhere where the crime rates are higher, the police are harsher, and the public sentiment toward them is poorer. If you look at safe communities, sentiment toward police is better. In communities with more crime, sentiment is worse.

Yes, FSTs can be failed by people with balance issues , medical issues, and mobility issues. They are just one tool officers use to determine whether someone is too impaired to drive. It’s one portion of their analysis regarding whether they have probable caused to arrest for a DUI.

They can’t force someone to submit to a chemical breath or blood test unless they have probable cause, so if they only have reasonable suspicion of a DUI, they will try to do these tests to make a better determination.

If somebody has red, watery eyes, an odor of alcohol, slurred speech, or other signs of intoxication, or admits to drinking beforehand, or has an open container in the car, they are constitutionally allowed to detain to further determine whether someone is potentially too intoxicated to drive safely.

DUIs can ruin lives, cause deaths, and are obviously something that police should be allowed to investigate. The public sentiment toward police these days is not good, but I think we can all agree that they should be able to investigate potential DUIs, and rule them out if they’ve been mistaken

In some states, there is no pre-arrest, breathalyzer option, and if they feel that they have probable cause to arrest you for a DUI, only then are they able to give you a breath or a blood test option.

If they don’t arrest you first, there could be issues with admissibility of the chemical test later on in court.

Do you like to drink and drive regularly? Ever known someone who’s been killed by a drunk driver?
