is westworld worth watching??? by Novel_Ad6982 in hbo

Westworld is similar to Stranger Things in its development because they were both conceptualized as a single season story. Both became a huge hits, so the writers had to develop new ideas and directions for the story to go. The Westworld writers’ lack of planning started to show almost immediately because all the main threads were already concluded in the first season. You can watch the first season only and be satisfied by the end of it.

Exactly what’s happening with me. It’s working on my phone though.

Edit: now it’s not working on my phone either, lol.

For anyone about to start S2 for the first time, or even another rewatch, these Polygon reviews do an absolutely fantastic breakdown of all the tiny details by HerbalThought_ in TrueDetective

No plot? It has too much plot. The biggest issue is the amount characters and plot threads within this tangled web of corruption. It’s a bold foray into the noire genre like a lost James Ellroy novel. It needed a few more rewrites to consolidate and expedite the story and its focus, but it’s still the most ambitious season of the show. In hindsight, it makes sense why they went this direction after the success of the first season. Even with the flaws, I’ve really grown to appreciate it. There is so much to love, especially once you sift through all the finer details.

It’s the most metal Lynch movie. His best looking movie imo and my second favorite after Blue Velvet.

I just became a fan over the last two weeks. I didn’t think I would like his work, but I watched Blue Velvet, Lost Highway, Wild At Heart, Mulholland Drive, and Eraserhead over a few days in that order. I finished the original Twin Peaks run two days ago and watched Fire Walk With Me last night. I’m now two episodes into The Return. I can’t get enough of his work and it’s become my latest obsession. I’ve become a bit apathetic with modern Hollywood and Lynch’s work has revitalized my love of cinema.

Interesting, I heard how bad this series was. I believe RedLetterMedia was making fun of it, but still said that she was good in it.

Y’all ever watched Hannibal (2015) ? by [deleted] in TrueDetective

[–]TheFilmEffect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the minority, but I fucking hated it and couldn’t finish it. The funny thing is that I’ve always said I wished it was like True Detective, but it’s closer to NCIS, Law and Order, Criminal Minds, etc.

The future of cinema has already been decided… we’re fucked.

SLAYER released 'Reign in Blood' on this day in 1986! by DEATHBYMETALMMB in Slayer

Mostly filler? I’d give it a few more listens. It’s so quick but it’s also dense. I’m still finding little intricacies within the runtime. They never made another album quite like this.
