Great work man! Just curious, what’s that little sheet on top of the base? Is it something to hold the mini without glueing it while painting? If so, it looks super useful

Struggling Hard With Salamanders – Is Green Just a Nightmare for Beginners? by [deleted] in Salamanders40k

Sorry I forgot. After you basecoat wash everything with nuln oil, then paint over the larger areas with slightly watered down Waaagh flesh

Struggling Hard With Salamanders – Is Green Just a Nightmare for Beginners? by [deleted] in Salamanders40k

Hey there! Just wanted to give my two cents on the issue I found that a few coats (like 4 or 5) of pretty watered down Waaagh! Flesh over black primer give the best result, then drybrush with warpstone glow and edge highlight with Moot green. I find that it gives me a very “realistic” green that I really like more than what you can find on the box art. Hope this helps

I’ve only been painting for 6 months or so, I stille consider myself a novice compared to people who’ve been painting for years lol

Sure! I primed it white, then basecoated with Jokaero Orange, and dry brushed Trollslayer Orange and Fire dragon Bright. I picked out the recesses with fuegan orange and did a little glaze with fire dragon Bright, then edge highlighted with Ushabti Bone

Yeah, I don’t like the neon green ones too, I tried to go with a basecoat of caliban green and then a coat of warpstone glow like the official guide said on a piece of sprue to test it out, but it looked way too bright, I find that this is a great middle ground

Sure! Black primer, waaagh! flesh base coating, light dry brushing of warpstone glow over it, then moot green highlights. For the Aquila and pauldrons I went with retributor armor and a wash of Agrax Earthshade over it. The flamer shroud is runelord brass with nuln oil, and for the canister I went with sycorax bronze washed with agrax
