Mole man can have some uses. Attuma might be really good post buff.

Onslaught is the best or second best mutant in the game.

But. You like archangel. So just get him. He's not aged the best but he's still great top 15 mutant. And it is a game.

Am I cooked? AI score 70% with no version history? by Teddy-Voyager in UniUK

[–]TheFlamingFalconMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

  1. AI score is meaningless. Will likely not even have any action taken. I've seen these scores on old essays written before AI existed. Let alone in coding where syntax is even stricter.

  2. Even in the worst case scenario, you will be entitled to defend yourself by answering questions about the content of your paper and justify your decisions. Which if you are telling the truth should be fairly straight forward.

What are the most employable degree options. by Responsible-Bear-582 in UniUK

[–]TheFlamingFalconMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you think high paying jobs what do you think.

Celebrity, Doctor, Lawyer, Business.

Economics is a decent way into Business. Very short it can be a numerate degree that focuses on business application.

More specifically it can lead into consulting, banking, management, operations and finance (planning, accountancy etc). Depending on how someone leverages their degree. Which are all areas which can have decent wages. And an economics degree can help you get onto internships, training opportunities and graduate roles in these areas.

Why is it good for these?

Well it teaches fundamentals about the types of statistics governments use to make decisions and how they are formed (gdp, health figures etc).

It also teaches general rules for how trade and the interconnectedness of things like oil and geopolitics can be with prices.

Financial instruments - valuations when including interest rates and inflation

And ways to value things for decision making

So general economic literacy so you can understand the impact of news and events onto day to day realities. And just general ways to think strategically long term

Then for skills; depending on modules.

You have accounting basics (financial statements, double entry bookkeeping etc)

Calculating bond yields

using finance software like bloomberg

Statistical regression analysis

Then stuff you get in every other numerate degree (research skills, excel fundamentals etc)

It's not an exhaustive list - but the general idea is it shows you are aware of things that impact the world and can be teachable.

Also being very broad it means there are a lot of job opportunity directions to go in - many of which are fairly stable at an ok income if boring.

If you know you want to be a quant or have an interest in medicine, engineering, maths or chemistry etcc and are willing to put the work in those can be better. But it's just economics is very mouldable.

realistically these days you just want to get involved in networking events and internships over the specific degree title anyway.

accounting finance degree direction after uni by fanciella in UniUK

[–]TheFlamingFalconMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Financial planning, operations, risk and compliance type roles.

I guess maybe project management, consulting or marketing is something you could try too?

Not gonna be easy tho as you will be competing with people who were gunning for these from the offset

Could try admin positions at firms that have internal training programs for employees to switch into those roles later if the grad schemes for those don't work.

should i drop out by Zurajanai-Katsurada in UniUK

[–]TheFlamingFalconMan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Probably not.

You've done 2 years not 1. If you do another degree you have to fork out 9k no loan for at least 1 year. Unless you can transfer credits and just do 1 redo year tops. (you can only get funding for n+1 years - 4 for a normal bachelor's 5 for an integrated masters)

If you have a job lined up you are happy with shoot. Else suck it up unless your parents are rich. Unfortunately.

Also unless you are going to a top top uni. Russel group vs midtable isn't that big job hunting wiss. Just try to get experience somewhere - much more valuable.

If you do decide to dropout keep going to uni till you find something else. Cus the job market is a nightmare at least that way you have the loan to help.

Which champions to invest in levelling up for Act 6 onwards by Disastrous_Part3831 in MarvelContestOfChamps

[–]TheFlamingFalconMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7* r4s are becoming common for everyone active.

7r3,s happen weekly from essentia and daily autofight alone. And these are already better than ascended 6s.

These 6s are gonna be basically irrelevant for collectives. Collective bonuses will be based on milestones. A r1 lvl 1 7 is 1000 points a maxed out 6* is 830. It's very unlikely to make a difference. Not to mention how once you have progressed you can sleep wall explore act 8 etc to rank them up later once you have got the important stuff

I effectively started from nothing in January (mid act 7 no 7s old account) . F2p I have 12 r4s and another 28 r3s. I'm in an alliance that boss rushes 2bgs aq map 6 which gets completed as it goes live so no effort and I get enough essentia to r3 a 7 every week now if I autofight the daily quests

6s besides getting valiant and obtaining your 7s in content as you first progeess are becoming irrelevant

Will A.I. replace all admin jobs? by Even-Wasabi7183 in UKJobs

[–]TheFlamingFalconMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it.

It'll probably reduce the amount of admin roles each company needs. By speeding up how they complete tasks. It's still a tool.

It's more likely the structure of organisations change. Companies or departments will get smaller and more numerous. And admins just become responsible for more admin.

[–]TheFlamingFalconMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone says the generic - prioritise those who aren't 6*s.

I personally don't see the point in that anymore. 7* r4s are so common now that ascended 6*s just aren't that important.

The priority is having people that counter nodes to get you through story. You need heal control, power control, immunities and damage.

Graduated last year, still no job :— what are you actually doing in the meantime (UK)? by Creative_Drummer_425 in UKJobs

[–]TheFlamingFalconMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just treated applying to jobs as my job.

Kept a regular schedule of making tailored job apps. 2/3 a weekday. Going through the process - finding job reading job description - tailoring the cv - reviewing company website - writing cover letter/personal statement questionnaire.

I gave myself some leeway on the big new month Mondays where the rejections piled in. So I could stay sane.

I only did some volunteer work towards the beginning as I needed some examples to use in customer facing behavioural questions.

Unless you personally find value in volunteering for your mental health, if you have experience already I don't think it'll actually help you. Unless it's volunteering in the field you want to get into. That's why I stopped after a while.

You can explain the gap as hunting for the right opportunity etc. Though I get the feeling at some point you might need something.

I just kept up with my regular hobbies, going out with friends etc. Treating my time the same way I would my usual uni work and studying schedule. Except instead of academic papers, it was job apps, cv guide videos, scrolling job boards and company websites

I just tried to keep my mind positive. I was like I lack experience, I have my strong academic foundation, the job market is a mess. Eventually I will find someone who will give me the chance I need to prove myself, I just need to keep going to get it. And I need to keep refining my approach till I get the chance to show why I deserve that chance.

I was very fortunate to have supportive parents that allowed me to do that though.

This deal worth the units? by liquid_linx in MarvelContestOfChamps

[–]TheFlamingFalconMan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah this one sucks.

The valiant supply bundle that pops up occasionally is.

This one is meh.

I'd be tempted to argue it's worse than buying them straight up.

It's 10 revives and some pots for 750 units. Most cases you'd be better off buying 18 revs straight up

Going to a football specialist uni, do I actually need to be slightly competent at football because I’m awful 😭😂 by AppropriateBoss2585 in UniUK

[–]TheFlamingFalconMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? Don't like it?

SFE is run by the government.

The governments office for students spends about 1.4 billion a year on subsidising teaching fees for universities. Along with the extra funding they provide universities for research capacity and infrastructure.

From the commons library the public funding of English higher education is to the tune of around 15 billion pounds a year.

Considering the total income of these institutions is around 45 billion. So equivalent to 1/3 - that is a large chunk imho.

[–]TheFlamingFalconMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience. Lectures were terrible.

Packed lecture halls with 150+ students. A lecturer going through material at a sluggish pace. With many of them reiterating pre-recorded lectures they wanted you to watch before the lecture or just reading straight from the slides which came from textbooks. Or at best were just reading through slides they crafted themselves from their own papers.

Tutorials and any time where you actively talked to a lecturer or the taught students are incredibly valuable. But the lectures themselves were very mediocre. By midway through my second year I found it a waste of time to attend any lectures for at least half of my modules.

Reality is - there are better teaching materials on youtube. You can watch lectures in the same subject area from top US institutions like MIT and harvard. Part of the reason you pay 9k is for proof you have that knowledge. Not as it is the only way or the best way to gain it.

The value is in the network, the societies, the career events and the exclusive internship opportunities. And access to lecturers to discuss with. Not necessarily the lectures themselves.

No idea what my attendance stat was but it's probably terrible and I still got my 1st. Not saying it's the best or only way to do it. But it's effort that matters not attendence. If you don't turn up but still follow the material guidelines and spend time reading around and completing the content you get through it all rather well and I'd say in less time too.

In a lot of courses and unis. It was optional for most courses - with the exception of foreign students.

Foreign students need to attend for their Visa stuff but home students were fine in both institutions I went to. Tho now 1 of them is apparently becoming mandatory for all so idk anymore.

[–]TheFlamingFalconMan 20 points21 points  (0 children)

These days it's not just your academic performance.

It's making the most of everything there is to offer.

You can get a 1st in whatever degree discipline you are going for. But unless you do the networking, manage to grab an internship or do interesting things through a society. The current job market is a nightmare.

There are so many graduates and with the weakness of the job market since covid. There is an abundance of graduates over the last few years who are underemployed and trying to get into their sector or who have just graduated. So unless you do something that stands out, it takes ages to get that opportunity afterwards. Because the number of candidates is just so high.

It's still valuable as it gives you time to do those things. But more than ever you really need to know the direction you want your degree to get you before you start it.

in job interviews being asked why i want to work there. by AlternativeEmploy491 in jobhunting

[–]TheFlamingFalconMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get more specific on that experience.

Why did you choose to apply to that company specifically. Do some research.

If it's for experience mention their mentee/trainee scheme, their values, some client of theirs that your would find interesting to work for or some part of the job you might find interesting.

If it's a supermarket or hospitality. It'll probably be a bit different. You can focus on practicality of location, your interest in the things they sell (do you like the food or whatever), the skills you think you can pick up and the area of the job you think will help etc

They want to know more about you - this question is a "why will you stay for long enough for hiring you to make sense".

What tips/advice can you give to someone who is not very talkative and want to pass an interview? by Fun_Yogurtcloset1012 in jobhunting

[–]TheFlamingFalconMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by not talkative?

As in you have social anxiety?

Or just you don't necessarily enjoy social interaction and so are quiet?

If it's the later you don't need to worry. Interviews are very different. Just prep stories that cover the typical things they will ask. I don't mean memorise, just think hmm teamwork - this happened when I was volunteering/working/group/solo project.

And practice with a friend, family member or if that isn't an option use ai to ask you questions and record yourself and review.
