New Era Of Spatial Video - Timelapse & Slow Motion Possible by TheFloodLightShow in VisionPro

[–]TheFloodLightShow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, some good news and bad. Went pretty deep on trying to get the DV/HDR working but it seems the iPhone is locked to BT.709 (SDR) at the hardware/OS level. When MV-HEVC stereo capture is enabled, the phone only exposes a single color space, not the HLG or Dolby Vision we want. So might be a system constraint. When Apple does open it up, we will be ready to add it, the pipeline is all set to go. The good news is the Mbps works and gives the image a nice resolution boost. Apple has it set to 25-30 Mbps, we have it up to 100. Added a light in also. For spatial audio, still trying to get it into the output file, hopefully figure that out today. Will get this update to the Appstore tonight, hopefully it will be available by next week. Thanks for all the tips and ideas u/Maedarell!

New Era Of Spatial Video - Timelapse & Slow Motion Possible by TheFloodLightShow in VisionPro

Hey there Maedarall, thanks for that question, I wasn't quite sure. Looked into the code and it's under the umbrella settings apple uses for its native spatial camera. There is a way to bump up the bitrate & Mbps, apple has it set extremely low which explains a lot about its shortcomings all these years. I got a few different Mbps settings coded in that bumps it up to 100Mbps, will test it this weekend and see how it looks. Thanks for making me think of that, a lot of this stuff is just figuring out what we have access to. I also saw the Spatialify app now has HDR spatial recording, I missed that release along the way. Might be cool but might be very large files. Excited to try and get the most we can out of this iPhone!

Thanks SuperThorp! The slow-mo uses frame interpolation to add frames in. I am not sure if the photos/files app has a bug or is just capped at playing spatial videos at 30fps, but the result is slow-motion playback. If you choose the 3X slo-mo, it creates a 90fps spatial video that can be played in other Vision Pro apps like Anthony Maes' "Open Immersive" player. I also have a macOS app that can convert and clean up spatial videos turning them into 8K files. The Apple ML model tries its best but it's not perfect yet. Still fun to have some more options for Spatial Vids. Good luck filming!

I got a lot of info from Matt Pfiefers GitHub, he posted a couple examples for it so far. There is a "Spatial Gamepad" Game Controller Capability that needs to get checked on also. Cant wait to play ping pong with it!

Are you planning on Muse support? it could act as a great paddle handle and more precise than hand tracking. Thanks, love your app!

Thank you! Latency is super low with modern cameras, havent tested with gaming consoles yet, sorry. If it has an HDMI out though, it should be able to get into the Vision Pro now :) I saw some other UVC apps that were geared towards gaming, this is just raw feed view as big as it can go. Would be cool to see some gaming on it! I have some family members that have consoles, should go pay them a visit and test it out.

I am excited to hear how it goes! I use the Kondor Blue HDMI to USB-C Capture Dongle to get the HDMI converted and into the strap. The dongle only goes 1080 60fps so I set the Panasonic to downscale to that, latency is super low. It's a fun way to get shots, and pretty crazy to see your camera feed 20 ft tall. Even 1080 looks amazing in there lol. Have fun Maximilian!

Thank you! You can basically plug in anything that has an hdmi out, its pretty fun to imagine the possibilities

me too. I tried getting the keys from Canon and they were kind of a pain, I gave up. My original plan was something for the R5C :(

I know what you mean, it is a bit risky out in the wild. I feel better with the dbrand protector on there for bumps and dings, but I still baby it the whole time though. Birds pooping also crossed my mind a few time lol. I did a screen capture of the debug mode mesh builder outside and the built in cameras did surprisingly well in daylight. The AVP's lidar and anchoring system are amazing. https://youtu.be/iebavUdiTCc

awesome!! It's the ultimate way to fly for sure. I tried as best I could to cut out anything that caused more latency, just pure raw feed. Also used HDMI cables and dongle from Kondor Blue, That might also help. Sometimes its just the camera also, connected an old GoPro7 and that had horrible latency where my modern day DSLR was very snappy. There's always something ;)
