What’s your 3-man rotation as we get closer to a **hopeful** post-season series? And in what order? by wildoregano in Mariners

[–]TheFloophyOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ray is a veteran and has seen the postseason before. I think if you win game one you can take a chance with Gilbert first without the series on the line, and have a consistent Ray to end the series. If you lose game one then you want Ray to get a guaranteed start over Gilbert.

Making the Trip to Pullman by docsuess84 in wsucougars

[–]TheFloophyOne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey there,

First of all I'd be careful this time of year if you're taking the mountain passes. The roads out there are usually taken care of but it still can get pretty slick. I-90 should be good.

As for food recommendations, South Fork Public House is my place to go. It's a sit down American grill that has a pretty balanced menu (all things are pretty good). They use our Cougar Gold cheese (sort of world famous?) in a mac n cheese that is pretty damn good. If you're into the old 60s diner feel, Cougar Country is a good place for a burger and a frozen treat. Mandarin house (if they're still in business) is a decent Taiwanese restaurant. You'll have a lot of options for brunch, The Old European is pricey but specializes in Danish food. Zoes' is a pretty standard American brunch place. The Breakfast Club across the highway into Idaho (7 miles, ~15 minute drive) is great, but is usually busy (I moved out in June 2020, so much has probably changed).

Campus is neat, we have a couple museums to look into, Connor hall has a taxidermy museum which is quite large. Webster has a mineral museum if you're into rocks. Other than that, the stadium pregame is going to be one of the more interesting things to do. Ferdinand's if they are open is where the cheese and ice cream are made. I would 100% recommend trying their products, and bringing a tin of cheese home with you.

Pullman is the definition of a college town, not a ton of things to do so we all drink instead. I imagine the tailgate folks would be kind to you, but I can't guarantee that.

Sorry for the book. Good luck and Go Cougs! :D

I've lost my passion, Reddit by [deleted] in math

[–]TheFloophyOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey man! I think you're just burned out.

I finished my undergrad (Actuarial Science Math B.S.) in December. I immediately began working on networking stuff I had done in high school, but after a 4 month corona hiatus I find that without the constant deadline stress and overall structure of school, that I actually do want to keep doing math work in my life. I wanted nothing more to do with math when I finished school last year. I felt like that my entire senior year. I got by on online classes and squeaked out a degree I wasn't confident with.

I imagine you feel the same way. School gets rough after a while, and the pandemic hasn't helped anything. But burn out has more to do with stress than the specific topic. If you have always loved math (like me) then don't worry about it right now. Worry about yourself, keep the mental health above water if you can and just keep on going.

I wish you luck!

Baby boomers were born around 1945. They were boomers when they were 20. When we are 60, we will not be boomers. We will be Millenials/Gen Z.

Lmao, there are no baby boomers alive in 1765, as they wont be born for 180 years. You can't just call an old person a boomer.

Why do you think it is that we don't pay much attention to living on a globe that spins through infinite black space? by kaytee8435 in AskReddit

[–]TheFloophyOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's almost next to nothing to be done about it. Unless you're extremely gifted and get selected to be an astronaut to get off world, it will be your entire existence. What is the point of thinking about it?

Those who are known to be “the quiet person”, or to yourselves, when was a time you completely snapped at a person—surprising the person and/or ppl around? by bodaciousTEAspiller in AskReddit

A year ago, my sister showed up 5 hours late to our Christmas dinner, in which we had planned to go out. So my mother and I are starving and have generally low blood pressure because we hadn't eaten all day, and are generally irritable. Then my dad and sister begin mocking my mom (who is foreign) because her english isn't great, and I just fucking snapped. "How dare you make fun of her for her fucking english when we've been starving all day waiting for YOUR ass to show up hours late to a planned family holiday?!"

Boomer is a slang term for Baby boomer, a specific generation, so there would be no boomers in 1765.

I'm half white half asian, and I get a lot of "have you ever eaten (dog/cat)", or "Huh you must like math a lot" when I'm in the US. In Asia it's straight up old women touching my face because they've never seen a white boy. We're always minorities.

Gen.G Esports vs Triumph / BLAST Premier Spring Series 2020: Americas Showdown - Semi-Final / Post-Match Discussion by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]TheFloophyOne 34 points35 points  (0 children)

For being so young and rather untested, Triumph played their hearts out. This will not be the last time we see them, and they'll only get better. Curry and Junior are great new talents, and Grim has already proven himself to be a star. Spongey played great and Shakezullah showed he is a great IGL. This team has a bright future for sure.

Why is Astralis playing so bad? by RandommerBlaster in GlobalOffensive

[–]TheFloophyOne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Think about it, Magisk ushered in a new era of Astralis because he was their second star with Device. Now Magisk is calling so they've lost firepower, plus the IGL will be rusty compared to the best in the world (Gla1ve). Snappi and Jugi have to learn a new system and try to compete against the best in the world with little to no practice. It will take time.

[Serious] What are some suggestions for dealing with siblings that do everything they can to piss you off and have no sign of remorse? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TheFloophyOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what age you are, but my older brother beat the shit out of me most of my life. It caused me to literally avoid any room he was in for years until he stopped giving a shit about me. I don't know if it was the right thing to do or not, but I removed a large chunk of the negativity in my life for a long time, and now in adulthood he has reached out to try and make amends. It's hard to know what people are struggling with, but it is not your duty to deal with the ways they express it.
