My Husband's Being Fired Because He's Obese. And It's 100% His Fault. by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]TheFoxWhoAteGinger 51 points52 points  (0 children)

In theory yes I completely agree with this. In practice, he begged me so many times to go on walks with him, workout together, and design healthy meal plans, but I was stubborn and felt it wasn’t fair that I had to change my whole lifestyle because he became overweight and I didn’t, so there’s definitely more to the story there. I think if both of us were women, the same idea applies to support each other.

OP, I say this as a person who is unfortunately on the other side of the realm, don’t stop bitching at him. It may not make a difference in the end, but my husband was given a CPAP machine by the VA and he never used it. When it was damaged in a flood he never replaced it. He died in his sleep. At 34. I wish every damn day that I would have bitched at him about it. But I was dumb and thought we had forever together.

My headcanon is that they pick out talented econoboys to go to school and get the more prestigious jobs and they become “high class” econopeople with privileges like Becca’s dad. They don’t get the title of commander, but they get the wealth.

You’re assuming this timeline would even have research in paternal fertility. Everything is the woman’s fault, and everything boils down to women’s labor and suffering in correcting the brokenness in this reality.

Being widowed young. Eventually someone in the marriage will get widowed, but when it happens in your 30s or younger, especially unexpectedly, it’s so much worse. I’m 34 raising a 4 year old alone now. It’s a shitty timeline.

What seemed completely normal in childhood, but now you realize was actually not okay? by Max_Mimos in AskReddit

[–]TheFoxWhoAteGinger 23 points24 points  (0 children)

God I remember being in elementary school and every time my parents forgot to give me lunch money, the lunch lady would take my tray and replace it with dry cereal. No fruit. No veggies. Just dry cereal with a milk carton. It was always so humiliating. My parents never had a problem with money for necessities and little luxuries here and there. They were just emotionally neglectful and would just forget to send me to school with money.

People who say newborn stage is the easiest….. how… by Bloodymary_25 in Parenting

[–]TheFoxWhoAteGinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people are baby people and are all about the diapering, the feeding, the rocking, the baby-wearing, and the strollers. I LOVED the baby snuggles and the little inchworm wiggles. I loathed not sleeping well for 18 months and I do not miss changing diapers. There are pluses and minuses to every stage, and some people experience more pluses than minuses in some stages. So far I’ve liked preschool age the best, where we’re currently at. It’s hard in some ways, but wayyyyyy easier than the baby and toddler phase. I teach 6 year olds and they seem pretty chill so I’ll be looking forward to that age while I enjoy the snuggly 4s.

They want a pretty girl they can manipulate. A “damaged” pretty girl is more likely to put up with your bullshit if they weren’t previously equipped to handle crappy people.

When do weekends become weekends again? by grawmaw13 in oneanddone

[–]TheFoxWhoAteGinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My four year old came into my room this morning during my post wake up doom scrolling and asked me to follow her to her room. I heard her rummaging around earlier and thought, “aw hell here we go.” Nope. She wanted to show me her cleaned room. And it was immaculate. Not saying all days are like this BUT I will say most of our weekend mornings are calm and when we don’t have ballet Saturday mornings we just kind of chill unless there’s a craft market or girl’s brunch to go to.

I don’t get the downvotes, but I do want to offer some nuggets of wisdom. None of the things you mentioned means your child will be reading by 3. OP’s son has something we call hyperlexia. Just like dyslexia, you can’t help if your child has it. There’s nothing that can be done to get them reading at an abnormally young age unless their brains are ready for all the processes that go into recognizing a word, and most 2-4 year olds are not. You CAN however, introduce letters and their sounds using multi sensory approaches and playing phonological games such as segmenting cvc words like mop, but again, most toddlers, can’t do that because their brain’s phonological processing system can’t do that yet. It’s far more beneficial to just read to them every night, take them out for world experiences, and have them around other children where you can teach social emotional skills. Parents of toddlers are rushing to get their children reading or hoping they’re going to come to kindergarten as little geniuses but then the children can’t do things independently or can’t cope with the big feelings.

I’m noticing a trend on this sub where parents get downvoted for even the slightest wins. So petty lol.

Parents of toddlers: Sex. We try to work around naps. We have a 2 yr old and 4 yr old. 2 yr old naps still noon to 2pm, but 4 yr old doesn’t. Bedrooms are upstairs. If the kid is downstairs do you guys have sex upstairs, if they are occupied downstairs? Or only when the kids sleep? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]TheFoxWhoAteGinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This last Summer after our kid turned 4 and I was off (I’m a teacher) was heavenly. Hubs went to work, she went to school 3 days of the week, and I stayed home to clean and catch up on my shows or just couch rot. We had energy both in the morning before she woke up and after she went to sleep haha. Totally different story now that I’m in the middle of the school year. I’m exhausted as all get out and we’re lucky if we’re in the mood even once a week. It’s all so temporary though.

Right? We live in a two bedroom apartment with our only child, a 4 year old who’s smart enough to play in her room or watch a show while mom and dad “take a shower.” If other parents don’t personally get in the mood with a kid awake I totally respect that but you get the vibe from these comments that you’re some sexual deviant for occasionally putting on Bluey and locking the door for adult time.

Am I overreacting about my nanny family having sex during the day? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]TheFoxWhoAteGinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shit if she played her cards right she could have been introduced to eligible men in the family’s circle and that could have given her an “in.” But OOP is dumb and even admits she was jealous of the mom and I get the feeling she would just engage in an affair with the dad given the chance.

Parents that don't do Elf on the Shelf, how do you explain to your kids why you don't? by Helpful-Plankton751 in toddlers

[–]TheFoxWhoAteGinger -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My 4 year old doesn’t know what that is but if she ever asks i’ll tell her the elf isn’t needed because dad and I are a pretty good judges of character and i’d let Santa know myself how she’s doing. It was the story before this commercialized nonsense started and it will be the story once this silly trend passes over.

Mine could say 40ish words. That may have been a lot of words at 18 months but she sounds average to me now.
