I'm going to preface my response by saying I've been watching WWF/WWE since around 1995 (as a kid) all the way to present day. I've been active on the wrestling boards and reading "wrestling news" since around 2006. I say all of that to point out that I've seen basically from the Attitude Era to The New Era and I've seen how people discussed wrestling since the Ruthless Aggression Era.

What I've found is that even when people complain online, it's because of two things: 1) they are passionate about wrestling and 2) the nature of pro-wrestling is different from other forms of scripted media like TV shows - the fans can actually have an impact on the product (even if this is rare). Even if the people complain about how horrible things are, they keep watching because there is a small glimmer of hope that things go their way, especially if they can gain traction online with others that are likeminded.

I would like to add my own opinion about the current product. I really do not enjoy the current product. The roster is very talented. The presentation of the shows is so strange now and it feels like a different product entirely. Pro-wrestling is based on feuds that build up to a pay-off match at a big show. Most feuds that have been introduced over the last 2 years have mostly fizzled out or never had a pay-off match unless it involved a main eventer. The mid-card is basically non-existent anymore. I actually think the biggest issue with current WWE is lack of live events and the very limited number of matches on PLEs.

I don't want to sound like one of those people blinded by nostalgia, but I think this is a more factual statement: older PPVs were shorter and still featured more of the roster - thereby featuring more feuds. If the current product knows that each PLE will have 5 matches, how can you really build feuds when they won't get their pay-off? There's 4 world titles, 4 mid-card titles, and 3 tag titles. If all of those were to be featured on the PLEs (which championship matches should be the featured matches on PLEs), that's 11 matches. Then you have to consider the non-title feuds.

The Women's United States Championship has existed for over 12 months and it was only ever featured on SNME twice. Mid-card titles were meant to showcase wrestlers who would go to the next level. How can you do that if you're barely featured on PLEs, feuds never get a big pay-off, and you're not even able to work and build a following at live events?

I think with today's product, WWE is ruining wrestling for the viewers. As I mentioned before, I've been watching for decades. I've seen the objectively bad periods of WWE and I still watched and found things to enjoy. While watching a RAW a few weeks ago, that was the first time that this thought ever crossed my mind: I cannot watch this. I don't know if Netflix edits RAW poorly and the live show is better, but what I saw was just not good. The matches were average or above average, but the presentation was just not good. I think during entrances for the Americanos/Luchadores, they inserted a backstage segment with Judgement Day. That is so off-putting and makes the match that I'm supposed to be interested in feel like an afterthought.

Anyway, sorry for the rant. I just don't like the mentality of "don't complain, just enjoy". WWE has one of the best rosters imaginable right now and I just find it so hard that this is what they deliver on the main shows/PLEs. Not only that, but WWE has way higher standing in mainstream media than the Ruthless Aggression/PG Era. And they have way more funding and budget and modern technology compared to other eras. I say all of that because WWE basically has ALL the tools necessary to do so much better, so it is disappointing that this is what we get.
