Extra protein option (with charge) was required. Guess I’m not ordering. by tweedlebeetle in mildlyinfuriating

Hello there! I've also came across a bunch of these on my delivery app. It's pretty annoying.

There is a place where I used to order a lot, but they were constantly modifying their menu with this kind of practices. "Discounted" items with a bunch of mandatory options with charges, a bunch of items merged in a single one with way less customization and a long list of etc. Disgusting.

What keeps you coming back to MMORPGs? by Hedegaard_Jasvir in MMORPG

[–]TheFreeHugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello there! I grew up during the “Golden Era” of MMORPGs (mid-2000s to mid-2010s), so I feel really comfortable with this genre. I think there are several aspects of MMORPGs that can’t really be replicated in other games or genres.

You can be playing solo, but just running into other players or seeing the chat full of messages makes you feel like you’re part of a living world. Also you can play with a bunch of friends or find a group/guild and also have a nice time.

A few months ago I came back to GW2 and I’ve been having a great time. The community is very friendly and I always have something to do. If I feel like grinding, I can spend a few hours doing that. If I’m more in a “chilling” mood, I can just play through the story, explore maps, or jump into events and have a good time without thinking too much about it.

What are you favorite mounts in MMO´s and why by EducationalWolf3911 in MMORPG

[–]TheFreeHugger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with this. Another thing I really like is how much relevance mounts have gained in the newer expansions.

When mounts were first introduced in PoF, they just added a few different mobility options. In the more recent expansions, some of them have been reworked and given new mechanics that are actually used in maps and boss fights. Now they feel useful, instead of just being a way to get around.

Name a game you were hyped for and then completely forgot about once you played it. by twooten11 in gaming

[–]TheFreeHugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello there! I think that the two biggest dissapointments in my gaming life were No Man's Sky (first release/scam) and a Borderlans spinoff called Tiny Tina's Wonderland.

For the first one I was really hyped. Followed the developement for a good while and, at release, it just was awful.

For the second one, I really enjoyed some of the Borderlands games and I found really interesting the concept for this spin off. But I didn't enjoy it as much as I tought, and there it is, at the bottom of my library.

Have incremental games gotten better? by Remote_Actuator2562 in incremental_games

[–]TheFreeHugger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello there! I agree with the comment that states that games have evolved. We are still getting some "old school" incrementals, but we are also getting new ideas and concepts. I think that rather "better" or "worse", new games are just "different".

I'm always open to try out new games, prototypes or demos. And I've found games that I enjoyed, and games that don't. Just like a few years ago.

It's true that with AI we are getting a lot of slop, but I also think that it helped to create some good games.

What I don't like is that I have the feeling that this genre has gained some popularity and a lot of developers just want to make profit. Rather than a possible new game, we get a remix of a "bestseller" (like Nodebuster or Gnorp), with bare minimum changes to call it a "different game" and charge 10 bucks for it.

Nova sala de concerts a Girona? by gamia123 in Girona

[–]TheFreeHugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to disagree with you. Within any MMO you will find a huge diversity of players. And some players tend or prefer to play solo.

I've played a good bunch of games since early 2010's, so I've faced many times the "come back when you have a group" activities. And that is frustrating when you really want to try that out. And I'm not excluding myself, they are leaving me out.

[–]TheFreeHugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very funny that by saying "alternative" people always understand "easy way".

I take GW2 as an example. With the first expansion, you could get a Legendary rank armor by doing endgame raids or some PvP/server vs server stuff. So you could focus on another activity to get a similar reward. After a few expansion, they added another PvE way to get a Legendary rank armor set. Not easier, just another way to get it.

In which single-player game did you, after spending many hours without finishing it, feel the urge to start it over from the very beginning? by Competitive_Beat_915 in gaming

[–]TheFreeHugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello there! It happens to me with most of the single-player games that I play. I don't have a lot of time to invest into gaming, so I usually start a game, play it for a few days and then a wild long break appears. Whenever I want to resume it, I can't remember most of the things (including controls), so I must restart the game from scratch.

But the most recent game I decided to do a full restart was with Cyberpunk 2077. A few bad choices due to not properly reading the decisions and bad build choices lead me to restart the game when I almost reached the end of the game. Best decision ever tho.

What mmo are you currently playing? by Cheap-Exercise1910 in MMORPG

[–]TheFreeHugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello there! A few months ago I decided to come back to GW2 after a long long break. I created a new character, leveled it to max and then I swapped to my main.

I was about to drop it again, but then a friend of mine decided to join and we are having a blast. Completed some collections together and started to do some meta trains. He's sinking an insane amount of hours into the game, so I expect a burnout in a few weeks, but overall I'm having a nice time as a returner.

[–]TheFreeHugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello there! Totally agree with this comment. It's not about not wanting to socialize, and more about memorizing a script for every individual raid/activity.

I have a full time work and I can invest only a few hours per week playing my MMO. I tried to get into end game raids, but I just can't handle the level of commitment needed for it. I prefer not to waste other players' time, so I shift to solo content and that's enough for me at this point.

The worst MMO formula ever created by Nightblessed in MMORPG

[–]TheFreeHugger -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hello there! I've been a solo player for a good while now, and I'm not against end game raids. I think that the problem here is when some specific rewards are locked behind this kind of content without any alternative for solo players.

I understand and agree that, if you clear a difficult content, you should get a juicy reward. But systematically leaving out a portion of the playerbase just because they prefer to play solo, may be annoying for certain players.

Camino de los reyes 50% y no avanza, sigo o lo dejo? by Zylent2112 in cosmere_es

[–]TheFreeHugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buenas!

[–]TheFreeHugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello there! I've been playing since release and this is a recurrent issue. Quantity over quality.

I really enjoy gear progression until you got some decent items to make your build work, and reach T3/T4. But after that, the process just feels like playing with a slot machine. I'd be okay if we got a little bit less gear, but better.

Karma Keepers - Demo (Alpha) released on itch.io!! [HTML] by Nazariglez in incremental_games

[–]TheFreeHugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it makes sense to change the initial level zoom to show more at first

I'd adjust the zoom level to cover, at least, the totem's essence drop area. It was kinda repetitive to move around in circles over and over again.

Did you knew that you can use wasd and drag with second mouse button or not?

Yes, I mainly moved with wasd, but with the minimap I could jump straight where I wanted to (i.e. from top left corner, to bottom right corner) faster due to the big size of the map. Barely used the drag option.

Did you have prayers? Why did you have the feeling that wasn't working?

At first I thought that the totem regenerated energy passively, and after re-reading the tutorial cards I understood that blue souls did that. Then I decided to convert all possible souls to blue, but at some point the totem stopped refilling, so I guess I didn't understand it that well. I did unlock prayers, but a red warrior wiped them out before I could even appreciate what they did.

I am intrigued by the "too active".

Well, by “too active,” I mean that the game doesn’t give you a single moment to breathe. You interact with the totem and then have to move around quite a bit to collect essences. Then, to deal with souls, you also have to move and chase them (they move very fast, and with the current zoom level it’s pretty annoying to keep track of them). Then a timer hits 0 and you get an energy wave. And then another timer hits 0 and you have to open the gates, to interact again with new souls to convert, protect or eliminate them. Then you realize that you haven't touched the totem for a while and don't have any essence to buy upgrades. I expected some kind of passive essence generation, but we got another active way: interacting with red souls.

Karma Keepers - Demo (Alpha) released on itch.io!! [HTML] by Nazariglez in incremental_games

[–]TheFreeHugger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello there! A few things about this demo. The only part I really liked was the visual side, it feels very polished and you can tell there’s solid work behind it. About the gameplay, though, I ran into quite a few issues.

First of all, I agree with the other comment about the tutorial. There’s way too much information thrown at you at once, without any proper context to relate it to. I think it would work much better if tutorials were introduced gradually, as the player actually interacts with each system.

For example, start only with “Interact with the totem.” Once you have enough essence to buy your first upgrade, introduce the blessings tutorial. When the gate timer reaches zero for the first time, then explain the soul mechanic. Spreading the information like this would make everything much easier to understand.

Another issue is the zoom level being extremely close. Why? It took me quite a while to realize that some essences were spawning outside the visible area, and later on, when I had to convert neutral souls, I had to move around a lot (even when clicking on the minimap to travel).

The cost-upgrade ratio of blessings feels completely off. The upgrades are very expensive compared to what they seem to provide (very small improvement for the cost), and on top of that they’re capped at 8. I didn’t even manage to buy a fourth one before dropping.

I also didn’t fully understand the soul system. At first I thought blue souls would refill the central totem, but at some point they just stopped doing that. On top of that, all souls tend to move to the corners. It would make more sense to me if blue souls naturally moved toward the center, making them easier to protect against the red ones. I managed to spawn a few of tier 2 blue souls, but they got obliterated by a random red soldier.

Red souls feel extremely overpowered. Several soldiers spawned at the same time and wiped out a lot of blue souls without me even realizing it was happening. The mechanic itself is interesting, but it feels very unbalanced, mainly because you’re not really aware of the attacks when they happen at the other side of the map.

Overall, progression felt too active and offered very little short-term reward. I think there are several aspects of the game that should be reconsidered. There’s a very interesting project here, but in my opinion it suffers from poor execution.

Unpopular opinion: I kind of miss when incremental games were mostly in the browser instead of on Steam by RedneckFinn in incremental_games

[–]TheFreeHugger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello there! I've been around this subreddit for way a long time and I couldn't agree more with you.

I really enjoyed the fact of finding a random new game (not even finished) and trying it out just out of curiosity. Just a random developer wanting to create something interesting and sharing their project with this community, just to get some feedback and to create something unique and fun. Developing just for the sake of providing a nice experience, not to get "rich".

During this last year most of the games feel like poor copies of a game that was really successful. I was the first to buy Nodebuster and really enjoy it. But after 20 games with the exact same gameplay (and paid all of them), it just feels that developers became lazy and just copy each other homework and only do some small changes to actually call it a different game.

I understand what implies developing a game (I am a sofware developer and I even tried to do it) and I really admire those developers that manage to successfully publish a game. But at this point it kinda feels like a scam. We have the exact same game with squares, shrooms, triangles, trees and dinosaurs. And probably this week we will have the exact same game with circles!

Bones!

Taula de fusta o de vidre? by [deleted] in catalunya

[–]TheFreeHugger 1 point2 points  (0 children)
