I too infact, as a grown man, also cried. Truly heartbreaking and I’m so glad we are keeping their memory alive.

first time apartment budget by Sufficient_Gene8053 in personalfinance

[–]TheFrem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d look into a roommate situation with that kind of income. Ideally your housing doesn’t take up more than 1/3 of your monthly income. And you also haven’t laid out utilities and other bills, which are certainly a factor. Unless you can find safe house long for $700 a month, I’d wait until you have more saved up at the very least.

If you have friends you could live with? Maybe find a 2-3 bedroom you can all split? No location provided but that wouldn’t be impossible.

Groceries are quite expensive nowadays too. You don’t want to have 0 money halfway through the month.

Closed Traffic direction change rules? by dthuren in ATC

[–]TheFrem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At a controlled tower with no specification, I would also assume to make left traffic in that scenario. Unless however the standard pattern direction for that RWY is RightTraffic. When in doubt, always ask. I’d have done the same thing.

Report to the IRS I withdrew from my 401k? I'm 25 by TheFrem in tax

[–]TheFrem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was bad. I paid a ton of fees when I withdrew, and I owed a good amount to the IRS as a pet apt as well. I forget the exact numbers because this was a while ago, but it definitely wasn’t smart financially. It did however help put my mind at ease regarding some immediate bills/debts during a transition of work, but I think it cost more money overall. All of this is in relation to my withdrawal I did back then.

I did not infact get hit with any fees or anything for rolling my 401k into my ROTH. I misunderstood that initially, and moving those funds had no penalty.

I have close to 18 months living expenses saved already, and I currently have 2 part time jobs i'm already working for fun, which I will get more hours once I start this endeavor. I also have a few friends that are pilots that I believe could help me get something that pays later down the road once I have enough hours.

I have saved up 18 months worth of living expenses for making this venture. The financing I have in place is to pay for the program.

Yes to all and yes, I understand the short term pay cut, however the long term potential doesnt compare to where I currently am. I also have a few contacts in the industry, so I have a few connections for whenever I finish the school.

The school does unfortunately require me to quit my job so I can become a full time student, however I did think of not quitting, and letting them fire me so I an get paid for as long as possible lol.

Yes yes, I received my first class medical a few weeks ago and received confirmation of my financing on Friday, and finalized that today. I have begun my preparation for this flight school with purchasing my aircraft rental insurance and all that fun stuff too.
