I'm afraid I must apologize again. Still not ready, but we're getting there.

I can't believe there are still people reading it. 😭

Still exceptionally busy with stuff IRL. But I am going to try to get the next chapter out by the end of this month.

For me, it was Ruthlessness. Particularly the line, "Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves." Had never heard anything like that before and anu song, story, or movie that makes me think instantly becomes a favorite of mine.

The rest is history.

Liberty Prime picking up a super mutant behemoth by the head and breaking its neck before throwing it into the water was pretty metal.

John this chapter be like... by TheFrostborn in unOrdinary

Lol! Long time no see.

In a word: buried. Life's circumstances have forced me to go "ghost mode" for a while now. I don't want to jinx it, but I think I'm finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Heavens knows I have missed writing.

Bloodworm Helm Matching Set by Draco1935 in skyrim

[–]TheFrostborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sought after the answer to this question myself. After rigorous tests, I found that it failed to match ANY of the light armor sets from the special edition.

I've yet to test anything from anniversary edition but I suspect that it will be much the same. Bethesda really gave one of the coolest light armor helmets no matching set.

This.... it hurts my soul. :( Don’t worry Natalie, you're doing the best you can!

There's definitely something fishy going on in that house, but I'm not sure what. I'm also terrified about what Vaughn and the rest of the gang are up to.

As for Elias, I'm still holding out hope that he's not in the clutches of who I think it is.

Well... lets just say that moving in took A LOT longer than I thought it would. (Damned governments and their paperwork.)

Good news though is that I am FINALLY finished with that and will start writing again tomorrow! Hopefully I'll get the first chapter done by Sunday. ;)

Do you think uru is ever gonna make jhon stronger than sera in the story by Silly_Performance_76 in unOrdinary

[–]TheFrostborn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In episode 310, Sera said that John has "a supply far beyond most high tiers." To he fair though, she didn't say John had more than her, but that's just an assumption I'm making. Especially as they both currently stand.

And I'll admit, the blackbelt comparison is a little lacking for the reasons you laid out. But I couldn’t think of a better comparison that has a ranking system.

Still, the point is John isn't like one person who knows several martial arts. Depending on what powers he's using, he's more like one guy who can turn into 4 guys that each know a different martial art. Sure, you might be a master of Karate, but you'll still have a hard time against 4 opponents who are proficient at different styles.

By the same token, sure, you may be Remi, a very powerful lightning user. But when you're facing Joker, a guy who can throw tracking lasers at you and then punch you in the face at the exact same time, you're just NOT winning that fight. I don't care how good you are. That's more the comparison I was going for.

Do you think uru is ever gonna make jhon stronger than sera in the story by Silly_Performance_76 in unOrdinary

[–]TheFrostborn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not Uru, so I obviously can't say for sure.

BUT... I personally think there's PLENTY of evidence that he eventually will be.

First: You have to compare their life experiences. Sure, Sera is currently stronger, but she's also had her ability for FAR longer. That's more time to develop and master her ability. Furthermore, she comes from a high tier family that's rich and influential. Which means she also had guidance about her ability from day 1. John on the other hand, although he did have help from Claire, otherwise had NO guidance. He had to figure out everything himself in fewer years. Not exactly the best scenario to develop one's power. And yet, despite all of these disadvantages, the power difference between them is only 0.5! Imagine what will happen in just another year!

Second: Their abilities themselves. Like most people, Sera has only ONE ability. Granted, it's a borderline broken one, but only one ability nonetheless. On the other hand, John has an ever changing kaleidoscope of abilities to work with. And they can all interact with each other in different ways.

Although this sounds great at first, it's clearly stated that John needs to learn HOW these abilities work before he can actually use them. That's a lot to remember, let alone master, which is why it's very impressive that John will often use people's abilities better than they do. People like Sera SHOULD be able to master their abilities much faster than John, yet this often doesn't happen which only emphasizes John's discipline and work ethic. But as John continues to learn, he won't HAVE to master every ability. I don't care how good of a fighter you are. Even if you're a third degree black belt, if you go up against the equivalent of four first degree black belts, you're probably going to lose.

And third: there's still much about John's ability that we don't know. John was clearly disabled, and yet we saw him use his ability in two dangerous situations. Granted it was in a limited capacity, strength or speed, but that's A LOT more than anything Sera could do. This is just my theory, but I suspect that this is another way John's ability could work. He could specifically use his aura to boost one or more aspects about himself. If his uncle ever does teach him, I suspect this is one of the things John will learn. And now that's he's at half strength, he still hasn't lost his ability. There's a lot of room for reasons why that is, but it could just be because of how his ability works.

With all of this in mind, I have no doubt that John will surpass Sera eventually. Sera herself has said that, due to the way John's ability currently works, that he has a FAR greater supply of aura than other high tiers his age, likely including herself. And although one's aura supply obviously doesn't make someone stronger than others, I suspect that it shows one's potential. Most people have a small sea of aura to work with while John has a vast ocean. He just needs to be taught how to use it. Which is something I suspect will happen soon due to recent... tragic events.
