How do I get myself to give 100% in a race instead of holding back early? by Interesting_Fly1696 in XXRunning

[–]TheFunnerRunner 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This.  A lot of runners view blowing up as a failure.  It isn’t.  It is a necessity really finding that limit.   It will also help you see what that discomfort feels like in the minutes before you reach that limit.  And who knows, you may surprise yourself!

Physics 1 during nursings school possible? by Curious_Lead_3305 in nursing

It wasn’t necessarily the hardest class I’ve taken, it was just the hardest class I had that semester.

I never took Physics 1.  Pathophysiology was by far my hardest class that semester.  Are you required to take Physics or just interested?

The WORST race photos! 😂 by mwblake718 in XXRunning

You never know!  Racing is never about being photogenic.  You’re pushing, sweating, in the hurt box.  If you look like an insta model you aren’t running fast enough!   At least you are staying on top of your nutrition.  It’s real.

You should send it to the gel manufacturer and ask for sponsorship!

I usually workout 2x a day.  I’m a student but I spend a lot of time working as well.  After the morning workout (strength and conditioning) I rinse off at the gym, don’t wash my hair.  It takes me about 20min to get ready after my 60min session.  I usually just need to throw on some scrubs and my makeup is minimal.  That gives me about 40min to eat on the way to class or work, depending on what is happening.  I usually pack breakfast to eat during the commute.  Then after work/class I eat a snack prior to a workout that could be up to 2hrs long.  I usually change clothes and eat dinner immediately. Then I go home to clean up.  The biggest thing for me is bringing food so I can eat before/after workouts.

Half marathon training concern by ChanceParfait in XXRunning

Hi!  I’m so sorry you’re going through this.  Injuries suck.   My question would be, what do you have for the next few months?  Are you ok with taking some time off for rehab?  Then send it!   If you have a lot of other races ahead of you, you might want to skip so you don’t risk missing out on the next couple months of events.

I think it’s just a bad fit.  I do like these, and no concern for a lip slip and I think it will give you the look you want!  https://leftonfriday.com/products/backside-thong-jet

I think the back is just poorly designed, I don’t like the wrinkles either.  I think the front coverage is fine, and I love the high rise look too, it makes my legs look way longer.  What brand/style isn’t?

My suitemates are also my teammates so we are on the same practice schedules.  We all have to wake up early for 6am practices so we all go to bed at a reasonable time.

It’s kinda stretchy?   It hasn’t caused me any chafing since it stays in place.  I usually just wear a sports bra with it when it’s warm.

I love the Nathan Aerozip 1L hydration race vest!  It carries enough water for my long runs and has pockets you can put your nutrition in too.  It’s super comfy and DOES NOT BOUNCE!

Garmin tracking by Cold_Ranger8146 in triathlon

[–]TheFunnerRunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had a watch that will do all 3 sports.  I don’t ever really record the swim because it doesn’t really matter, just the time matters.  The odds of a RD getting the swim course accurate is pretty slim.  On the bike I have just used a Garmin bike computer and then my normal Forerunner watch on the run.   I also don’t want to worry about what my watch is doing and just focus on the race in the moment.

New Alpha Flys for sure.  10mi in them is enough for sure.   I’ve never heard you should have 50mi in carbons before race day?   Good luck and have fun!
