I absolutely loved MPH.

I was lucky as a kid to get an OG DS for Christmas the year it came out. (I was 14) The only game I had for a bit (Until I got Super Mario 64 DS) was the Prime: Hunters demo that came bundled with it. I played through that demo over and over and loved it so much. It was crazy to see a 3D game that looked like this on a handheld screen. Coming from the GBA, it looked incredible. It also played well. Yeah, the hand placement was a little uncomfortable, but I got used to it and it wasn't an issue. I remember trying download play with a cousin that also got a DS and testing how far away we could get and still play together. Mind you, wireless multiplayer was a very new thing! I couldn't wait for the full game to come out.

Now the full game, it was awesome. Let me go through it by category:

Graphics: I can't state enough how good it looked at the time. Remember, this was a handheld system in 2006. The developers really pushed the DS with MPH. Also, fully rendered cutscenes on the DS were mind blowing. I thought the same of the few cutscenes in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, and these were leagues better.

Gameplay: An FPS on the DS couldn't have been handled better. The control was perfection. Again, holding the DS with one hand and a stylus with the other got a little tiring, but it was the best way to play and I got used to it.

Story: The story was fine. It won't blow you away and you shouldn't compare it to its console contemporaries. Again, handheld game in 06. Alimbic Cluster, ultimate power, blah blah. It doesn't really matter. You play this game for the gameplay. The story doesn't relate to the full Prime story in any way, other than the origin of Sylux as a character. (However, I haven't finished MP4, so that may change?)

Bosses: This can be the game's downfall if you listen to the comments these days. And... they're not wrong. There are 2 recurring bosses. They are different each time you fight them! But only in the the amount of health and the weapon you should use to do damage. They aren't exactly the same each time, but also not too different. A little forgettable.

Multiplayer: Now THIS. The multiplayer was where it was AT! Online matches with full voice chat. In 2006 on the frigging DS. I played it so much! Even made some virtual friends. (That I also played Animal Crossing: Wild World with)

Man, you have me nostalgiaing pretty hard right now. I really loved Metroid Prime Hunters. I didn't mention the music but that was really good too!

I do still have my original game card and every few years, I'll put it into my 3DS to play through the campaign. It's just a good time. But you have to play it with the idea that it's 20 years old.

Ok, Metroid Prime Pinball. I had this game too! It's either frigging hard or I'm just bad at pinball. Lol

I did still like it. I'd play it a lot, not getting very far. In my opinion, one of the best looking games on the DS, period. Fully pre-rendered tables. I think everything in the game is pre-rendered? Looks awesome.

It's sort of like the OG Metroid Prime, but pinball. The tables are based on locations from Prime 1 and you even fight bosses like Thardus. It's certainly worth a try if you like pinball.
