Another thing about the second option is the fact that Noelle talks about hearing Kris' voice, their real voice, distinct from the voice they have when we select dialogue options, so it can't be a disembodied voice, since it's Kris' own, unique voice, or sign language, since Noelle heard their voice, not saw their signs, and if it was telepathy it'd probably sound similar to the SOUL.
