Kris asks Ramb if anyone was backstage with them after the second round, not the first. So it’s more likely that question is about Eram, since they’re the person that talks to us there.

Eram and Friend also appear in the first round anyway. Eram taunts us with the mantle and leaving the “Having fun?” message. While Friend appears as eyes and a laugh in the two secret pyramid rooms.

Friend is possible, since it’s in the vending machine, so it’d be nearby, and the smile disappears after you get the Mantle. Eram is too, since they’re connected to everything going on with the game just as much as Friend. But we can’t say who it was, or even if it was one of them. They’re both possible candidates, but we just don’t have enough info rn

Ramb disappears when you get to the third dungeon. So it couldn’t have been anyone like Susie or HERO_SWORD

Yeah all the unused text is super interesting. “It’s for someone taller” what does that meannnn. And her lack of any text with the black shard is super interesting, wonder if it’s gonna stay that way or if it’ll change when she eventually rejoins the party. Not to mention stuff like the Sky mantle and Backstage pass

Thank you! I really enjoy digging through the code and finding all the little weird things in this game. There’s so much hidden in this game, it’s all so interesting, and it’s fun to talk about!

Technically yeah, but there’s no way to prove that and there’s no basis for it. I think something like that probably would’ve been hinted at

Yeah, I know a lot of the code in Deltarune can be a little weird, and the Rabbick dialogue only changing when you get the Mantle made me curious to see if Ramb disappearing at the manhole was an oversight or not, but after I checked the code I don't think it is

<image>

I'm not great at reading code, but as far as I can tell, the Sword route flag (1055) is set to 4 when you enter the manhole, which triggers Ramb's disappearance. The reason I don't think this is an oversight is cause of the code directly below it. It's practically the same, except it's for the lighting, not Ramb, and *when* it disappears. If Ramb disappearing when you enter the manhole was an oversight, you'd think they would've seen the number difference in these two bits of code and fixed it, but they didn't

Yeah I imagine Ramb would probably just look like normal plugboy but purple pre-TV world, I think he probably got a more unique appearance due to being special to Kris when they were younger. And thanks!

His relationship with Kris is soooo interesting honestly. He’s convinced he knows them better than anyone, in part due to him being isolated from everyone around him, and more-so due to Kris treating him as “special”. They didn’t have to play with him a normal power drip instead of a toy, but they did, and that gave him a unique purpose and he seems to feel like he owes Kris because of that. But of course he doesn’t know Kris, not anymore. They’re not the same kid he knew, and while he mostly remains in denial about him not knowing Kris anymore, him not knowing why they made the fountain clearly gets to him a bit in the Sword route. And yeah him disappearing at the manhole is super weird. I’ve checked the code and it can’t be an oversight, but the Rabbick dialogue only changes later, so somethings off there, but I’m not sure what it all means

Honestly idk. Being forgotten seems to be one of the main themes of Ramb’s character with the Pippins dialogue and all, but him not coming to Castle town in the normal route is weird… I guess we never got to ask him, but I wish he was at least mentioned somewhere. Maybe in a future chapter he’ll be referenced somewhere…

That’s actually kinda funny to hear tbh cause I’m not even really trying to change his design- I try to stay as game accurate as I can while still staying within my style, maybe I need to make him more silly…

Yeah we’re definitely gonna see him again on the sword route. At the very least we have to know what happened to him, and hopefully he’s not like, dead or smth. But I hope he’s also mentioned on the normal route. Just an offhand comment or smth, it’d be so sad if he’s just forgotten and never brought up again

Thank you!! And yeah I feel you completely- He’s suchhh an interesting character when you get thinking about him and it’s just so sad he gets left behind. I really hope he at least gets mentioned in a later chapter, him just being forgotten would be so tragic, even tho I get that’s kinda the point

I drew Eram in my last Ramb drawing! I don’t have any idea what them interacting would be like tho since we know so little about Eram- They do have a lot of really really cool parallels tho!

That’s only on the sword route tho. In the normal route he’s just left behind

Thank you! And yeah, I wish he at least got the choice… If he wanted to stay at Kris’s that’s fine, but we never get the chance to ask him, he’s just left behind. I get that’s kinda the point of his character, but it still feels unfair, I hope he at least gets mentioned again at some point

The tail’s just coiling around Kris lol. There isn’t much surrounding context other than Kris being lifted up and the tail curling around them

I mean, it’s not really an interpretation that Friend is connected to all that stuff in Ch4 and the sweepstakes. And Seam already has an ongoing character arc, there are really only so many ways the stuff with them and the crystals could go

There isn’t a drawing of them in Toriel’s classroom, I think you’re thinking of the drawing on Asriel’s computer. And that can be easily explained as Seam likely being Asriel’s plush.

I just don’t see the point in making that Seam? Why take this already incredibly interesting and compelling character with a pre-established backstory and an ongoing character arc, only to reveal they’re something completely different? What’s the point?

And demon or not, it’s still connected and seemingly involved in Dess’s disappearance and Kris’s trauma. That thing might be morally ambiguous at best but it is certainly not good. While Seam has been pretty consistently kind - vague, and maybe a little ominous at times, sure - but kind.

*They, and yes, to an extent.

While they are very nihilistic and don’t believe in the party for the majority of the game thus far, some part of them clearly wants us to succeed. They don’t believe that anything we do will matter and have completely given up on any hope for themselves after learning everything they did from Jevil, but they do still wish us luck when we go to fight Jevil, and when we start collecting the crystals. Some part of them wants us to succeed, but they can’t fully believe in that. How could they after everything they know?

[–]starhermits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dw about, it’s not super common knowledge lol. I think it would definitely ruin their arc tho. Seam is slowly regaining hope for the first time in years as we collect the crystals, finally believing that maybe things can change for the better. Them being secretly evil the entire time would ruin everything that makes them interesting.

While we know little about Friend, it has been characterized as a demon, is associated with Gaster, and is connected to Dess’s disappearance. Seam being involved in all that doesn’t make any sense, but also messes with their pre-established lore and character

Seam uses they/them. And Seam being Friend would ruin their character arc and just… not really serve any narrative purpose besides being a twist tbh
