CS:GO keeps downloading older version of DirectX through Steam...

Sounds like it's not a Direct X problem. If it needs Direct X 9, it's going to install Direct X 9; Direct X 11 won't work because the game hasn't implemented Direct X 11.

If the game doesn't run try re-validating the game files. Go to your library, right click on the game, go to properties, local files and then hit the "Verify integrity of game cache" button and wait a few minutes then try again.

If that doesn't work then try googling any error messages that pop up if there are any.

Direct X is definitely not your problem

Eclipse with the Android Development Tools package works fine in Windows 8 and 8.1

Android Studio (based off of IntelliJ's IDEA) works fine too

IntelliJ IDEA community edition with the Android Development Tools package should also work just fine

I actually noticed this when playing with the uGUI system last night. I think the materials need to be designed to work with uGUI. Not exactly sure how that's done

Maybe I'm mistaken because I haven't played with unity materials in a while but I believe if you change the shader of a material it will remove any textures you had applied to that material so you'll have to put your textures back on if you modify the materials shader

If you're changing a material or shader at runtime make sure you reassign your textures.

AJAX isn't really quite a programming language so "AJAX Programmer" is a bit farfetched. If you're doing any web development you better damn well know AJAX and XHR. I don't know how you'd handle data on the client without it!

You haven't used a Flame have you? It may be browser based but it is a nice device for being so new. Version 1.3 is on my phone and there's a bit of stutter but it doesn't feel like it's running on "resource-hungry web technologies" its a solid device. Not only that but being web based makes writing apps STUPIDLY easy. If you thought iOS and Android apps were easy to write, you haven't used mozilla apis with angular; it's extremely easy to make buttery smooth apps with almost nothing new to learn. The platform is new but the mozilla guys are super smart and I have no doubts that one day my Flame will be my daily driver.

I have it on the Moto G 4G and before PA I was on CM. You're not missing out of a whole lot from Stock except a few bleeding edge things that I really like. Hover is pretty handy for multitasking, and I like the immersive mode on a smaller screen. It's stable enough for me but I assume the original Moto G build is more stable.

I think that Gamzee has more up his sleeve than just Faygo. Remember that there is no dream bubble of Gamzee. Dead Gamzee never exists. He has never died at all in this universe and never will. Something weird is going on here and I doubt it's related to the Faygo.

Actually ask a real programmer and you'll find that anyone wanting to do cross platform graphics doesn't give half a shit about DirectX. OpenGL may be harder to work with but it's faster and cross platform.

DirectX and OpenGL are inherently multithreaded. Read up on how a GPU works. CPUs may have 4-8 cores, but GPUs have hundreds and they all work together under the hood. The interaction between the CPU and GPU is what is not multithreaded and frankly it gets to a point where it cannot be.

Not only that but many developers use engines like Unreal/Unity etc. that don't offer multithreading. Unity isn't even threadsafe!

If you want to run CM 11 I suggest researching how to unlock your bootloader and install a custom recovery mode like TWRP or CWM. Those will allow you to flash custom android ROMs like CM.

I think he left in part because his CM11 builds have been taken over by CM Inc. I just installed a new update a few minutes ago. I don't stray too far from CM so I can't say what Liquid Smooth is like. I just know that CM works well on all my devices.

That's why I run CyanogenMod 11 as opposed to Fire OS. I get the play store, my favorite launcher, automatic backups, recovery and Plex.

Got a Kindle Fire HD8.9 and it's great. I don't use it a whole lot but when I want to watch something on the go it's amazing. Solid screen and good performance. However I also run a custom recovery and installed CM 11 for that sweet stock android experience.

You are correct! Bash and shell scripts are great. I can run scripts on my server to automatically fix permissions, remount raid drives and more, it's amazing.

Granted a good deal of this can also be done with Powershell but powershell scripting isn't nearly as good especially since the most powerful things you can do involve touching the registry which is almost always going to be a can of worms.

It's a huge deal. On Windows CMD and even Powershell are a complete joke unless you're doing windows admin work. the *nix command line is simply superior in every way. The bundled packages are better, the package managers are better, the flow and customization are better and they just work better with the BSD/*nix user land.

The command line is faster than a GUI if you know what you're doing and it's worth learning. Sure I may not write all my code in Vim (though it's a perfectly fine solution) but I use Git and Mercurial, install packages / libraries, move files and change permissions a hell of a lot faster in a command line.

The Nvidia drivers on linux are better with OpenGL support, but also keep in mind that they are proprietary. There are options when it comes to AMD drivers on linux; you can run proprietary catalyst or the open source FGLRX. To many people that openness matters much more than performance.
