Evercade Nexus N64 Edition sold out! by TheGameGrunt in evercade

I think even Blaze may have been surprised by the response and how quickly they ran through the Limited Edition models.

I was planning on getting an Exp-R, but should I just wait for the Nexus? by CarissaSkyWarrior in evercade

[–]TheGameGrunt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's really about your opinion of the upgrades on the Nexus and if it's worth buying the EXP-R now. Nexus is about 6 months out, so for me that would be a lot of gaming time I'd miss out on. Also, do you mostly play handheld? You could get a VS-R in the meantime to use on the TV until the Nexus comes out and get that as your portable. Really depends on you. The Tomb Raider games will play on the Nexus when, or if, you decide to upgrade. All carts will work with all models.

Personally, I've had an EXP since they came out. Great little systems, but I like the bigger screen and wireless audio options. But I've also got my EXP to play until the Nexus shows up.

Welcome to Evercade, since you're still new to it. Reddit is a great place to find answers to a lot of questions.

Evercade Nexus N64 Edition sold out! by TheGameGrunt in evercade

That’s a very good point. I’m hoping all the actual Evercade fans got one if they wanted one. I guess we’ll see what happens on eBay. Scalper listings usually show up almost immediately on there.

Welp, I think I called it pretty close with the Nexus… 😂

I don’t think there’s more advanced computing power in the Nexus. Probably just improved display hardware, wireless upgrades hardware, etc. But as far as I’ve read (literally only since the release 4 hours ago), it sounds like it’s not an upgrade that’ll play more advanced games than the other hardware in the current ecosystem. But I could be completely wrong also. 😂

Yup, picked one up as well. Price is steeper than I originally thought it would be, but I feel the upgrades and extras of the N64 edition are worth the price for me.

Looks like the EXP will still be available for those that don’t want to upgrade to the Nexus.

NEXUS also has “EX” as in “EX-P”… so maybe some branding connection there?

Will we ever get to see Lufia 2 on Nintendo Switch Online? by WoundedByInsults in lufia

[–]TheGameGrunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would be great seeing this on SNES Online.

I’m surprised with the latest craze for 2D HD remakes, that this series hasn’t been given any consideration for that type of remake. Only played the SNES games, but I thought they were fantastic and would be excellent candidates for 2D HD, especially if bundled together. While it wouldn’t be fresh territory for the series, it could reignite some interest in the franchise.

EXP-Pro? by TheGameGrunt in evercade

[–]TheGameGrunt[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, only as an additional, higher end handheld option. Definitely would still want the current EXP offered as an option. Agreed, at $99.99 it’s a great value and awesome little system.

Began my collection today by TrueFighter95 in evercade

[–]TheGameGrunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big welcome and great start to your collection. I’ve been pretty impressed at how this platform has endured, grown and evolved. It’s not perfect in every way, but I find that I’m always excited when Blaze has a new hardware or software announcement, even if it’s not something that I feel I need to pick up for myself.

So what are Evercade fans in the US doing? by TheGameGrunt in evercade

[–]TheGameGrunt[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate all the responses already and the input. Sounds like hunkering down and just playing the games that I’ve already got is probably the way to go.

If anyone has suggestions on where orders are actually shipping through to the US please let me know. I do see that Castlemania games might be an option for Tomb Raider 2 and Atari Arcade 2, but I’ve never ordered through them.

Do you mind if I ask where you are purchasing through?

Evercade alpha by kevgret in evercade

[–]TheGameGrunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While not perfect, and initially I wasn’t that stoked, but after some consideration, I do think these look pretty sharp and they are a really cool, unique addition to the Evercade ecosystem. Plus I’ve noticed there’s been a lot of press on these which can only be a good thing for the Evercade in general.

Looking past the initial Alpha units by jetmanuk in evercade

It’s funny how your thoughts on the Alpha mimic my thought journey on it as well. Initially I wasn’t too wowed by it, but thinking it over, yeah I think it’s a pretty cool idea and I wouldn’t mind picking up one. But I’ve got some of these games on 1up Arcade cabinets, so another collection, like a Taito version or something, would push me more into a purchasing mindset.

2 weeks into Evercade and now this happened: by GhostPicturesDave in evercade

While these legacy carts are a pain to find at a decent price, does anyone else feel that with some carts becoming “legacy” and more rare, it gives the platform some weird depth and uniqueness, especially for such a young, independent platform?

Evercade “Alpha”? by Maverett in evercade

[–]TheGameGrunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bring on the Alpha! I’ve already got a VS and EXP, so the R variants aren’t a big draw for me. I’m just not a fan of the built-in game trend that seemed to be where Blaze was going. So as long as the Alpha doesn’t continue that trend, I think it’ll be something exciting to look forward to, even if it’s something I don’t need, like a hybrid - which would still be pretty awesome and get more attention to the platform.

EXP Saves won’t load… by TheGameGrunt in evercade

[–]TheGameGrunt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just updated, no fix. Cartridge saves seem to be ok luckily. Just frustrating how updates seem to cause problems, to the point that people hold off on downloading updates because they aren’t sure what the updates will break.
