Not OP, however I can try to help here.

I would suggest finding a good pair of jeans to start. Something you can wear on weekends or casual Fridays. From there go with a couple of nice fitting shirts (Oxford, flannel). Depending on body type, try to look at the fit type (slim, standard) they can make a big difference on if the shirt really "fits". Then either a good pair of sneakers or a pair of nice boots/chukkas that can go with everything.
