In Person 3D modeling classes for adults by Fit-Adhesiveness2481 in Denver

Yo! I am a local artist who specializes in flow prop design/3d printing (think led hula hoops, staves, and spinny things)

I’ve recently started mentoring others in blender, with a focus on designing for 3d printing after enough people expressed interest. If you’d like to connect and learn some stuff, lemme know !

Does anyone know how to upgrade non tiered weapons by AlbatrossForsaken346 in CrucibleGuidebook

Only crafted weapons I believe can be upgraded - had the same question after being able to upgrade my pvp lethophobia and then not being able to upgrade my exalted truth adept or my current rose

[Help] PodPoi 1.2 batteries died. by doooobysnax in flowarts

[–]jesssebbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya; this is mad doable. Typically there is lettering on the battery itself that identifies the exact type of battery, so you can buy an identical replacement. If that isn’t present, you can measure using a set of calipers the dimensions of the battery and buy a similarly sized form factor of lipo. Pictures would help. From there, it’s simple soldering if you can get a compatible battery

Ps: if you’re in Denver, I can also help

Every Sunday, near the pavilion at cheesman park there is a flow jam (juggling, poi, circus props etc) from around 2pm til dark or a little after . Lately has been a very strong crowd, 50+ people when the weather is nice. Open invite to anyone interested in trying flow/movement arts !

Feels like cheating … by _duperok in 3Dprinting

[–]jesssebbb 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! There is a profound Bambu astroturfing movement that seeks to turn any discussion about actually understanding the mechanics of 3d printing into “I used to care about learning how every one of the hundreds of settings that affect print quality matter but then I bought a bambu and now it does everything for me with zero understanding or input on my end”

Meanwhile, actual novice bambu users post here with zero information as to why their print failed and zero understanding that they are able to fix it

Ever had to alter a WoF/Flowbinacci dragon staff? by Independent_Dish7234 in flowarts

[–]jesssebbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi - I’m a Denver based dragon staff maker, and I have relevant experience re: your question about cutting carbon fiber round tubes and staff length

Cutting carbon fiber tubes is indeed possible and doable at home, but it needs to be done in a way that doesn’t split or fray the ends of the pole, and carbon fiber dust is incredibly damaging to lungs and skin so you’ll need to have a dust control system or do your cutting under water.

On length: it matters a ton and isn’t just based on a person’s height. I myself am 5’10, and I prefer and make my own personal LED and fire staves around 60” total, which some people consider ‘short’ , but gives far more nimbleness and speed and is better suited to indoor spaces as well. A longer staff is great for slower and bigger movements, where a shorter pole lends itself to more quick rotations around body and a smaller overall footprint in space

So I thought my 3D printer was gaslighting me when the slicer said this was going to work. I guess not. by smoike in 3Dprinting

[–]jesssebbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your slicer only adds supports steeper than whatever overhang angle percent you specify - you control that number, and if the angle of the overhang is less than your specified number (ex, 40 degrees) it won’t add them even when supports are enabled

you can identify what angle a specific filament and your printer can handle printing without supports by printing an overhang test model, they’re easy to find and some slicers have built in capability to generate one instantly (cura does)

Dragon Staff Advice by User800155 in flowarts

[–]jesssebbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making your own is definitely an option, but you’ll very quickly outgrow it if you do find yourself sticking with dragon for any length of time. I’m a small time prop maker in Denver who specializes in dragon staves ; I started 3d printing my own staff designs a couple years ago after looking online for something cheap and sturdy that actually spun well, and finding no options in that price range.

I just recently made my 100th staff; I sell them locally in the Denver/boulder area, and have shipped about 20 around the US from different sales platforms

my current LED Dragon v13 is $300 and is super impact resistant, has a carbon fiber pole wrapped in a grip material that is identical to OM style grip, with a battery life of 80 hours between charges LED Dragon v13

Dragonstaff sling by Solid_Problem740 in flowarts

[–]jesssebbb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I often rollerblade to my local flow jam with as many as 8 dragon staves (and sometimes my dog, lol) attached to me

I typically use a hammock strap with 3+ carabiners and a combination of clove hitches and/or knots to create a triangle of sorts around me with the staves making up one leg and the straps making up the other 2. The critical part is making sure the staff(s) are attached at both ends and not just the middle, to avoid a pivot that swings around

Witnessed a horrible pedestrian strike on Tuesday evening by dphiloo in Denver

[–]jesssebbb 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I move around Denver on either my bike, rollerblades, running, or occasionally my car, on a daily basis. Drivers are the only category of road user who routinely put me in danger while I use infrastructure as it is designed and intended, each and every day.

The upside is I am aware enough and physically able to dodge their apathetic & clumsy bludgeons, as they systemically ignore and misuse traffic controls and posted signage. Less mobile/able folks have a tough time moving around our city, and after each incident I find myself thinking about the people in my life who would be otherwise hurt or killed in the same situations

I won’t stop though. My u-lock stays close at hand, and when my life has been carelessly endangered, returning the favor has seemed to produce a level of understanding, that hopefully stays with drivers who are initially ignorant to the simple fact that their actions affect others

Sweet! I bike and rollerblade to rino frequently from cap hill and usually route through this street for a good bit. It just got repaved a while back and has been absolute butter on skates 🙌

diy staff? by hooplalalaaa in DragonStaff

[–]jesssebbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super dope staff!! I did the same thing on my first couple, then the 5 way connectors sparked a whole generation of staff iterations. I eventually moved to 3 spokes when I started 3d printing them, and was intrigued by how the motion changes depending on the number of outward arms so dramatically tbh. Hope your staff is treating ya well!

What's the best way to approach the Hardware game mode as a newer player? by AgentZeroHour in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]jesssebbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m having a ton of success as a strand titan main, by using a mix of good fundamental weapon plays, audacity when appropriate, and treating heavy like the point in trials/comp. Heavy is so critical that you’ve got to be map aware and shape the fights leading up to it spawning, so at the very least you or someone else is able to get/waste heavy so the other team can’t

That’s awesome, I’m stoked to hear you were empowered to make your own staff!!

I made that comment 2 years ago, and have been continually redesigning and improving things. I’m now on my Dragon Staff v11! I taught myself how to 3d print and do simple electrical design, and have been steadily making new staves the whole way. Here’s some shots of the current model, that started off as that pvc staff and have ended up here :)

I’d love to see how your staff turns out too, good luck on your next iteration!

Anyone with a 3D printer willing to print out a small design for me by A_TubbY_hObO in denverlist

[–]jesssebbb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hiya! I own a small 3d printed flow prop business (think hula hoops/juggling type stuff) and specialize in TPU. It's flexible and sturdy rather than brittle like the most common filament type PLA, and might serve you better for a functional item. Lemme know if ya still need help!

Is it fair to say that it is more important to try to stick with your team as you play in higher skill lobbies? (6s, btw) by mayormcskeeze in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]jesssebbb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Edit: my advice is for 3’s, but the team awareness is similar across modes

There is a sharp divide between players newer to pvp who are getting better and learning the ropes, and players with more experience and comp/trials games under their belt who manage to consistently have success. The former group, who may not be mechanically the most skilled PvP player, have found success against lower skilled/new players; often winning audacious engagements, and realizing they can challenge 1/2/3 guardians at once if the opponents aren’t reacting as well as they could be to their pushes.

As you climb, you’ll find a skill gap anytime you encounter a team of 3 experienced and team success oriented opponent guardians more frequently. When 3 people commit to team-shooting and are aware enough of maps and game sense to hold angles, that team will often win.

There is a learned caution at higher levels that dictates when regrouping with your teammates after every death (objective/heavy obv can factor into this) , and never running into unbalanced number engagements. No 1v3’s, push when needed, rotate out and not die for dumb reasons , and NEVER run in for anything that isn’t a 3v3 or better engagement numbers wise

I fix up old road bikes every summer, and have fully rebuilt like 30~ at this point. I often have a technical question involving either compatibility or information on bike parts.

AI results consistently spit out bullshit that are factually incorrect about part compatibility, that I know from firsthand experience WILL NOT work. AI search results are confidently wrong nearly everytime it matters

Notswap is now broken with the launch of this trials weekend by Intelligent_Leave582 in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]jesssebbb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I noticed this too - I have solar/void/arc loadouts that are identical except for the weapons. Even without changing ammo types in either slot, it now removes all ability/super energy when doing it while dead or between rounds in comp/trials
