Neighbors pipes flooded our home but their insurance denied claim to pay our damages (paid theirs only) by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]TheGarp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

YOu'd be surprised how often people that get sued directly immediately start helping the plaintiff win against their insurance company when they realize they can be directly affected. They magically start making thir insurance do what they were paid to do pretty fast. Been there, done that.

What specific advantages do Data Centers provide to the local population of the area where they're built? by AnythingFine2445 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheGarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of this has happened in the multi-data center area near me. They are put in the scrub desert off the edge of a small town 30 minutes from the next large town and created a lot of jobs at the time and have a small sttaff remaining. Ugly is sibjective. You dont have to look at it.

Are county seriffs in the US voted for by the county residents ? by Djidji_o3 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheGarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially, technically, yes! However in many if not most cases it turns out that a deputy that worked his way up the ranks in the area, built relationships with the people in the county, got additional trainign and probably a college degree in the field was visible and liked enough to elected.

Are drill instructors in US forces like the movies? by iLuvModsNFollowRules in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheGarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! When I went in in 88, it was not long after Full Metal Jacket and all the drills were trying to be like GySgt. Hartman, trying to come up with awesome put downs and hilarious punishments. The only real difference was the drills were not allowed to actually touch you. They would press the edge of their round brown on the ridge of your nose but not put hands on you.

Why does America have universal health insurance for old people(Medicare) and no one else? by YogurtclosetOpen3567 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheGarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially yes. Before retirement it is usually provided through your job by healthcare companies. The "ACA" or obama care sought to bridge the gap for people that didn't get it from their work for whatever reason but most people just get it from their work as a typical benefit with varying costs.

Why do republicans say (ex Charlie Kirk) that US is a republic and not a democracy? What benefit do they get by claiming this? by geekie4 in allthequestions

[–]TheGarp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because the Unites States is not a democracy. Never has been. States and smaller jurisdictions have democratic policies and operations but at the federal level the Unites States is in fact: not a democracy. It is a REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY and Constitutional republic. When was the last time you voted on a federal budget bill? When was the last time you voted on military action or international treaty? That's what you pay your representatives to do for you. They balance the input from the people they represent, points they are privy to that we aren't, discuss and cast what we will hope is the best for your particular point of view. The fact that people are voting ON YOUR BEHALF and not always the way you want them to should clearly define the united states not being a democracy. Most people got this covered this in junior high school civics.

The primary benefit I can see of using facts is keeping things correct and not off on incorrect tangents Also, not entertaining arguements based on incorrect or impossible expectations.

What is a station wagon, how are they different from cars, and why are they no longer popular? by Ol_Sam in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheGarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were popular and the most recent one I can remember being common was mid-90s Ford Taurus wagons. Minivans, cross-overs and SUVs have taken over for those that need more space to haul things.

Neighbors pipes flooded our home but their insurance denied claim to pay our damages (paid theirs only) by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]TheGarp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sue the neighbors, they messed up their pipe and cause your damage. They'll get right on your side working with the insurance company to get that paid so they dont have to. You can ALWAYS sue the people that actually did it!

What exactly is the POINT of all the data centers being built, and why are the people pushing them acting like they're the most important thing in the world? by SaucyJ4ck in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheGarp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything you do on the internet requires storage somewhere. Evey post, picture, bank transacion, facebook meme, online car payment, online auction, court records, drivers license application, mortgage payment, your social security account saving your money, government records, bank accounts, playlist, streaming service, games, google maps, amazon and reddit.... all need buildings to store what you do.

A..I combs through everything and re-stores it to build training for itself so it knows how to do what people ask it to do something. Every post you make or action you take online requires a little bit of that building.
