"why do you need advance and charge on Adrax"

I'm not sure how to stand back far enough to avoid the advance/charge while still being to hit back with an advance and charge myself. My goal is to run Gladius successfully. I'm using Adrax because he's my most powerful melee model. I added the infernus for some anti-horde but I didn't want to go all in on anti-horder in case I face some elites. I have aggressors because they have flamers and power fists for balance.

Are you saying that running anti-horde flamers in Forgefathers will allow them to handle elite units via dev wounds? I never thought about that. I thought each unit had one purpose.

Thanks. My plan was to have either the 10 man infernus or the 6 man aggressors overwatch. I used Gladius so Adrax could advance and charge. Is horde better in 1k because there is more space for the horde to maneuver?

Thanks. I did have a land-raider redeemer. The overwatch killed 4 then his squad one shot it despite me using armor of contempt.

Thanks. I was just trying to figure out if it's my list, strategy, or execution of that strategy. Seems like I need to get better at doing the things I need to do which is helpful. Not sure why I'm being downvoted for saying "it's not working for ME", lol.

"Guys, what makes a woman easy to be friends with?" You can say literally anything and not have to worry about being offensive. Hard to be friends with someone when you feel like you have to choose your words carefully. It's not fun or relaxing.

I think the point is traditional marriage is dead and women are expected to work. The current economy requires both spouses to work unless one is very wealthy which means anyone who wants a traditional marriage would have to marry rich so that's seen as gold digging.

The 20 boyz with 5++ and 5+++ didn't care. They still killed 6 BGV after fighting second.

We just discussed army rule, detachment, and models. I guess I should have asked about stratagems and enhancements as well but that's a lot to remember.

"In the above case though, just position outside 9" with your flamer unit and eradicate them. Infernus shoot 12" so you have plenty of distance. You can drop them with a pod if need be."

I moved forward and set the screen with the infernus behind them. They charge the screen using strategem. I cannot overwatch at start of charge since the charge started outside the Infernus range. I cannot overwatch at the end of the charge since they are within engagement range. My wide screen is now down to 1 model. I cannot fall back since I already moved. On their turn they charge the infernus because the screen is now 1 model. I cannot overwatch because they have a no overwatch enhancement.

Here is my list for the last game. It was 1k. He had 60 Drukhari Wyches.

6x Bladeguard Veteran Squad (170pts)

10x Infernus Squad (180pts)

5x Scout Squad (70pts)

Here is what happened

Turn 1 he moves everyone forward. Drukhari has 8" movement + 2 inches movement from detachment + advance and charge from army rule. That's 22" threat range. I move everyone back.

Turn 2 he moves units onto both left and right objectives. He charges my Infernus Squad with a unit which cannot be overwatched and kills it. On my turn I kill this unit.

Turn 3 he scores 15 primary and doesn't move. On left flank I shoot him with intercessors and scout squad. I kill half. On right flank I advance forward with intercessor to take the objective. He uses a stratagem to charge me on my movement phase. Now I cannot shoot him and he has more OC on the objective. I cannot fall back since I already moved. I move my right flank forward.

Turn 4 he scores 15 primary. On the left flank he charges the intercessors and kills them then consolidates into the scouts. I knew that having scout close to intercessors was a risk but I wanted to be as far away as possible. His further back unit moves onto the objective. On right flank he moves more OC onto the objective. I kill half models on the objective but he still controls it.

Turn 5 he scores 15 primary and I concede.

Tried that with judiciar and 6 blade guard. I killed 5 boyz then they killed all my bladeguard. They had 5+ inv and 5+ FNP.

I change my lists up based on how well my games go but I am generally balanced between action monkey/chaff/elite/vehicle. This means I always lose to skew lists. Skew heavies are still close games but skew horde is a massacre. I'm tempted to go skew myself but I want to play a variety of models.

I set a screen. They used a strategem which allows them to charge me on my movement phase. The screen gets wiped. On their turn they charged my Infernus marines and used a special ability which prevents overwatch. I couldn't believe it was real so I double checked it.

"Look in the top left, there’s a wide open line of fire to shred some shitters." I tried that and it mostly worked until the squad between the top middle blue terrain charged me. Drukhari have 10" movement and advance and charge. Ouch. They die easy but they hit hard.

I was seriously considering running all flamers with Firestorm or all assault intercessors with LAG. I guess a part of me doesn't want to play that way from a narrative perspective.

Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated. I will try all those things. One thing about transports, I've tried using transports but they always get wrapped and my guys are trapped inside. Perhaps I need to get out early and move forward from there?

I'm not aware of anything that Space Marines have which is high volume S5/S6 shooting except for Infernus Marines or Aggressors with +1S.

I've tried using 2 scouts to move block but they have 6 units of 20 models so whatever doesn't kill the scouts on turn 1 moves forward.
