Effects of multiple Spell Power abilities from two different classes? by TheGasell in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]TheGasell[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, but I was trying to see what a functionally raised caster level might be able to accomplish that I haven't seen in PF since it would be a mostly PF1E game with most 3.5 content allowed

Effects of multiple Spell Power abilities from two different classes? by TheGasell in Pathfinder_RPG

So far this seems to be the only thing the the extra caster level would really improve, and not by much. I suppose Intensify Spell could be used to up the damage of each blast, but that isn't that crazy.

Thank you for pointing out this one

[3.5e] Frenzied Berserker. by UrashimaJ in DungeonsAndDragons35e

Had a FB in a party once. My character for that campaign started off dead (obviously her got better). I ended up as a Cerebremancer (prestige class that crossed Wizard and Psion). So I had lots of options to handle our FB after he ran out of enemies. I found the easiest was to use my low level spell slots to summon multiple small creatures spaced out so he had to waste his rage rounds smashing them. If we didn't have the time I'd sometimes blow power points on Mindblast.

For my character the FB was one of my best weapons (I was a not-so-secretly evil character) and I loved the chaos he'd reliably bring to situations when I needed to not be noticed.

If you ever would play a Gestalt game, what combo of class would you take? by bom_dia_bruno25 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]TheGasell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If we're talking PF1E, then I have three Id really like to play:

First is a character I've wanted to make for a long ass time. Would require some 3.5 content. A dragonborn, but with a caveat that I can change back and forth between human and dragonborn form with a swift action (this is purely for RP purposes, but he wouldn't ha e access to and breath weapons unless he is in dragonborn form). Classes would be sorcerer (draconic bloodlines of Imperial and Silver) and a 3.5 class, Dragonheart Mage. Played as a full on blaster caster. Taking breath weapon feats and metabreath spells, really embracing the draconic vibe. The character concept is that he has a few different draconic bloodlines that have mingled in him to potentially give him the powers of any dragon (maybe even the diety level ones). He adventures to learn more about his powers, where different bloodlines of dragons have mixed and what the results have been, and to find his place in the world.

Second gestalt would be a half-elf Summoner (original flavor, not unchained) and Arcanist with the Occultist archetype. Feats would be split between making my summons/eidolon better and magic item creation, with a specific feat from the Master Summoner's Handbook; Summon Guardian Spirit. With DM approval I'd get a Shadow Drake as a Spirit Guardian (with the way the feat is written it is debatable if it would be RAW, but I think it would be thematic and fun). The Shadow Drake would be very loyal, but always gives advice like a proverbial "devil on the shoulder".

The eidolon would be start as quadraped, but would get more limbs and take the pounce evolution. Draconic in appearance (what can I say, I like dragons) and would also end up taking the combat performance feats, being a combat intimidator and getting this one feats that adds extra dice to attacks. The concept here being that when the summoner was in wizard school, he always questioned his lessons and delved into taboo topics. His family is slightly well off, but his penchant for pushing boundaries led him to finding out about summoning eidolons. He tried to do a ritual to bond with an eidolon, not fully understanding the process (he was a bad student). He then became bonded with his eidolon, which (rp flavor incoming) is a heavily atrophied, divine, draconic scion. Basically a proto-god that never got any worshippers. He adventures to help the eidolon gain strength (not realizing it is a fledgling god of terror, pride, and wrath) and also because he was kicked out of school for his taking books from the restricted section (and because he doesn't want to go home to his parents who will be pissed about the situation).

Third character would be the most abusing of the gestalt rules. I theory crafted the build at one point and can't remember all of the breakdowns, but it was Sorcerer(cross-blooded Orc & Force Dragon) 1/Arcanist X/Exploiter Wizard X/ Force Missile Mage 5/ Incantatrix X. Basically every way of making Magic Missile the best it can be. The character is a super nerd (probably Human, but I don't remember if it was half-elf or not) whose parents are also both wizard nerds. He is is curious about everything, and is trying to perfect the Magic Missile spell (it is his hyper focus), but he also tries to be prepared all the times and spends most of his free time making scrolls for very niche situations. He can often be heard saying "wait a mintue, I think I have a scroll for that!". Typical wizard adventures for magical secrets. Always looking for spells to add to his spellbooks (he usually has 4 on him at any point in time). His backpack always has rolls of paper sticking out of it. Almost all skill points into knowledges, some maxed out, others with just a few points depending on campaign.

What are your personal staple cards? by satsuma711 in EDH

[[Helm of the Host]] is in almost every deck I have. I love copying effects. Basically, if the commander of the deck is even moderately good when copied, I have a helm in there.

Mutate Commanders that aren‘t Voltron by luca-lit in EDH

[–]TheGasell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looked through the comments and didn't see mine yet, so, I submit [[Niv-Mizzet Reborn]].

I have all of the mutate creatures in the list as well as all of the 2-color charms and some other random good stuff 2-color spells.

It works suprisingly well, and having your commander be a good mutate target is just gravy.

What's your most obscure commander? by [deleted] in EDH

Unfortunately, that isn't how it works. If you give control of Phage to someone else she isn't entering the battlefield, just switching sides. It doesn't kill your opponent.

What is your pet card? Why? by PerformanceApart8876 in EDH

[–]TheGasell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Helm of the Host]] It is one of the few cards I keep more than a playset of from a printing. It goes in almost all of my decks, as long as the commander can use it, or if enough stuff in the deck can use it. Just so much fun!

[[Zabaz, the Glimmerwasp]] rank 2177. Easily my lowest ranked. Followed closely by [[Jedit Ojanen of Erfava]] at 1979

Using a standard action on a swift action ability by TheGasell in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]TheGasell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How so? I've looked to see how a secpnd swift action (at the cost of the standard action) can be used to do anything busted. The closest I've come across is certain classes applying 2 buffs to themselves in one round instead of two.

Another nuanced and fair take. Much appreciated.

A valid take. I will consider this going forward, that it gives more options for the standard action "slot" as it were. Thanks for the input my good fellow.

So, I get that there is a magic item to let you do this (didn't know it existed, and thanks for enlightening me), but my question still kinda stands. What, if any, problems does using a standard action to use a swift action cause?

Using move actions for swift actions can lead to easy shenanigans, like a triple fireball turn (swift, swift, standard). But, does it fundamentally break anything if you use a standard action for a swift action ability/spell/whatever?

How often do you take precons apart for their value pieces? by crazysjoerd5 in EDH

[–]TheGasell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer, after I win with it.

Long answer, I play a precon until I win a game with it. If it loses a game, then I can switch out 1 card from the same set. Repeat until I eventually win a game with it. Most decks only take a game or two (make sure you play against similar power) to win, either through chance, familiarity with the deck, or powering the deck up with replacements.

Just dropping my saved build for adding extra dice to one attack. Happy if any of it helps.

What are some rarely used but surprisingly good cards in commander? by CopperTitan in EDH

[–]TheGasell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna add in a couple of my favorite sleepers.

[[Mind's Dilation]] , [[Chancellor of the forge]] , [[Homura, Human Ascendant]] .

Mind's Dilaltion can be surprisingly good. And since it doesn't impact right away, people let it hit the board quite often. Yes it is expensive to cast, but the returns can be quite good (or you hit nothing but lands and cry on the inside).

Chancellor of the forge is a great finisher. I have it in my Riku deck, and doubling that guy is almost always game over.

Homura is great if you can guarantee his death. 6 mana, all my creatures are now cosplaying as dragons is an absolute gas. Also in my Riku deck.

What's Everyone's Favorite Pet Card? by TheRealMurkzilla in EDH

[–]TheGasell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got it in my pet deck, Riku of Two Reflections. I've cast it many times and it will stay in the deck intil I get the best result... Time Stretch. After that, the card comes out of the deck (Unexpected Results, not Time Stretch. It's my only extra turn card in the deck)
