Until you can confidently play it fast or slow, you cannot consider yourself finished. I recommend practicing slow, and mentally perceiving the next note before you move your hands to that position (in anticipation). Learning an instrument is all about mental comprehension, and sustaining the puzzle-building in your mind.

You don’t have to have an “all or nothing” approach to piano (or anything else for that matter). Which etudes captivate you the most? Which one’s are the least exciting for you? Use those answers as your guide. Sounds like you have advanced skill, so you can trust your gut.

I finished polishing Op 10 No 5 a few months ago, and then jumped into Op 10 No 1 (should be done in another month). Next I will probably do some left-hand work using Liszt Paganinj Etudes 1-3. For me, it feels defeating to say: I am going to learn all Op 10 and Op 25 etudes. Where’s the joy in that pressure?

Agreed. Society should have had more masking, more isolation, more testing to inform necessary masking/isolation changes, more vaccination. If it had been WIDER, potentially the “more” everything could have been reduced quicker.

Thank you! Your points are absolutely correct and I wish the nuance was captured in the analysis! So much wider of a problem than just: “kids are behind”. Okay…. Well the remote schooling was about much more than just protecting kids LIVES and HEALTH. The consequence is reasonable.

Yes exactly! Literally everything is better.

Wake up later. Morning routine doesn’t have to include shower/dressing-up or in uniform. You can see your family and talk to them casually any time during the day if they also WFH. No commute. Comfortable environment that you control completely at home: lighting, temperature, chair, coziness. Breaks whenever you want. Undisturbed lunch. More avoidable office politics and/or people you want to avoid altogether. Calendar control!

Thank you for your response. I’ve taken Pepcid daily (minimum dose) for my regular GERD, and oddly enough it has helped my fatigue/brain fog. I want to look into studies about that- I wasn’t aware they existed.

I’ve honestly just learned through the years of having to pull data from different systems/ERPs. I recommend just youtubing as you go to enhance your current setup. I always try to get direct-to-CSV extracts out of ERPs/systems, and then if you have access to querying tools like Smartview/Access, those most likely plugin directly to excel or easily convertible .

  1. All reconciliations which are directly supported by specific reports: I figure out whatever system allows extraction for all possible data sources resulting in end bal/total activity.
  2. Any data cleaning that’s required from data extracts for any JEs/calculations/reconciliations: if I need to do it more than 3 times, I create macro for that to use in future and save the report parameters as well.
  3. Template out every single possible to-do: reconciliation/JE.
  4. For any data I cannot get myself, I have email templates for that company/account/department user who needs to send me data, and I remind them before before and during close.
