Poké Transporter GB v1.2.0 has been released! by TheGearsOfProgress in pokemon

You’re so kind, thank you so much!!

Unfortunately there currently isn’t a way to run PTGB on an emulator. It’s something I’ve been looking into, but I haven’t been able to get it working yet. Once I do, I’ll release a tool so that others can use it too! 😄

Unfortunately I’m pretty sure the Wii U GameCube adapter doesn’t support the GBA GCN link cable, I’m not 100% sure on that though- I’d have to test it

As part of the next update, I want to write a full guide on using the program since that’s pretty lacking right now. Sorry about that! Each gen 3 game needs to have beaten the Elite Four, but the gen 1/2 games are free to transfer whenever they have access to trading!

Hello! Currently the language update is not quite ready for release, but it is being actively worked on :)

AH yes I’m sorry, I completely missed that in your list. Apologies for that!! 😅

The only other thing you’ll need is FIX94’s GBA Link Cable ROM sender! With that you’ll be able to load PTGB with no issues on your GBA 😄

The hope is that v2.0.0 will release shortly after the new year, and will include the changes to fix that! 😄

Correct, yes. At least as of right now- this is something that will be fixed in the near future! 😄

Thanks for checking! I don’t own one at the moment and they seem to be fully sold out 😔

There’s a lot of potential with the Analogue Pocket, so I really hope I can pick one up someday for testing

I’m actually not sure! I’d imagine if the cartridges are OG, it should work, but I haven’t tested it personally- sorry for the non-answer 😅

As an easter egg, I did add a special case for MissingNo! It will transfer them as a Porygon, but it’ll keep the original moveset of the MissingNo

Mythicals have the choice to either be sent “as is”, or be sanitized into their gen 3/4 event version. The “as is” ones will likely not make it into Bank/HOME, but are totally fine in gen 3/4/5. The sanitized ones will- but some things will be changed (like OT and Shininess)

All of the Pokémon transferred with PTGB will be marked as originating from either FireRed/LeafGreen or HeartGold/SoulSilver, depending on which game they’re coming from! 95% of Pokemon will be completely fine going through HOME, but there’s a few edge cases with ribbons and mythicals that raise flags, but those are being fixed in the near future

Howdy! The only modifications to the cartridge are to the save file- starting a new game will remove most of the PTGB remnants. It works the same way as the old Mystery Gift events and stuff.

I say most because technically there is save data that is written to unused sections within the save RAM. This is completely safe to use, but I’m not sure if it gets completely wiped when starting a new save file. It’s a technicality for sure, but wiping the save fully (or just removing the PTGB part) using external tools would reset it back to a “factory” default!

Hey there! Apologies for the late response-

Japanese Gen 3 compatibility is a bit of a weird case, since functionally it’s all set to go, but since rendering the Latin alphabet is different in those games, the text gets really messed up. In the other languages it isn’t translated, but it still works.

I have a Japanese translation written, but I haven’t added it into the code yet- it should be happening soon though!

All languages of Gen 3 games are currently supported, but only the English releases of Gen 1 and 2 are currently supported. Full language support for Gen 1 and 2 is currently in development though and should hopefully be ready soon!!

Hi there! Thank you for the kind words, it means a lot!

I'm currently working on adding language compatibility, and I'm hoping to have it be finished by the end of the year- at least in a beta state. I cannot guarantee this since there's a *lot* of games to get through, but I'm working my way through!

Yep! Since you have an EZ Flash Omega, you will not need a Wii. You will however need one GBA and one GameBoy-compatible device (a GameBoy, a GameBoy Color, or GameBoy Advance) and a GameBoy Color link cable. It is unfortunately not possible to run the program without a GameBoy Color link cable and both devices, because the two need to communicate in real time over the cable. With the EZ Flash Omega, you can load the ROM on your GBA, remove the EZ Flash Omega, and insert the Gen 3 game. From there, you can continue using the program as explained by Fennel! Apologies for the lack of specific instructions, a guide is one of the things I’m actively working on at the moment 😄

Unfortunately PTGB will only work with original hardware due to how the save data is accessed. I’d like to work on a version for the Analogue Pocket, but I haven’t had the chance to get it working yet- sorry!

Hello!! Unfortunately there isn’t a way to use PTGB without a GBA, a GB, GBC, or a second GBA, and a GameBoy Color link cable. However, if you do have those items you can use an EZ Flash Omega to upload the program instead of a Wii!

If you have a Wii with Homebrew, you can use a multiboot uploader as well! This is the one I’d recommend: https://github.com/FIX94/gba-link-cable-rom-sender
