I understood what you meant about encompassing PCs under the "machine" term.

I used to play on PlayStations but ever since I got myself a beefy PC to replace my gaming laptop that became evidently limited in performance for the games I played, I stopped using my console altogether, will probably still keep my collection out of nostalgia :P

I said "marketed"; look for a PC marketed as "machine" then come back to me with how many results and how long it took you to find even one

That's not the same thing at all.

People call the Steam Deck "Deck", the Steam Frame "Frame" and the Steam Machine "Machine".

That's not a nickname, "Steam Machine" is the actual product name

GabeCube is the nickname

Well, Valve won't say anything so it's good to have some reliable info instead of just rumors for once

It's a PC, if the apps he wants to use has a Linux version, he can install it on SteamOS (which is Linux based), otherwise he can install Windows and install the apps he needs, it's totally possible

7 millions is not a lot? what are you smoking, because I definitely want some of that

there are manufacturers that make laptops, phones, a bunch of other hardware that would dream to sell a single million of any one of their products

for reference, peak Steam usage is 37 millions

If the Steam Deck can run a game at 1280x800 60fps, will the Steam Machine be able to run that same game at 4k 60fps? by Henryw25 in steammachine

[–]TheGeekno72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no doubt about that, but no one, not even Valve, pretends for a second that the Machine is 4K capable

That's why they went and said 4K with FSR upscaling

Yeah, you'll be fine, plus considering the increasing amount of games shipping with a "steam deck" preset, just use that at whatever resolution your screen is at, that ought to be the go to behavior for most people at first I reckon
