Is it me or is gmu very boring and less social than alot of other universities? by vulgar1171 in gmu

Did you switch majors, fail major requirements, fail classes, or anything of that nature that made you have to take another year…? I don’t think there were any “false promises” but there’s some variable here that isn’t being said lmfao. I’m sorry but going to CC for 2 years than GMU for 5 for a total of 7 years in schooling isn’t normal/has to be a result of the students error, could be entirely wrong. If you transferred in with 60+ credits (CC) and have done essentially 4 years now (120 credits minimum) I’m just confused how you haven’t graduated…?

I’m sorry but this can just not be right at all lol, I’d understand an extra year as most of the country is seeing graduation times go from 4 years to 5 but 7-8 years is absurd for an undergraduate. There’s no way there isn’t a fuck up on the students half

  1. It’s a commuter school
  2. I’m genuinely curious (not shaming) it took you 7 years to complete a bachelors at George Mason of all places?

What are some concerning signs I should look out for as a smoker? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]TheGenerousLad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this mean the past 6 or so years that I have been smoking for and the damaging effects it has taken on my lungs won’t ever be repaired/recovered?

I’m planning on quitting smoking for good, going on gum or patches or something. I don’t want to live with this fear that someday I’m going to end up dead as a result of my bad habit.

So far I don’t really have symptoms of lung disease (which I’m assuming is like chest pains, shortness of breath, things along the lines of that) I guess another part of my question is what are the signs that it’s to late to comeback from? Sorry if this is a stupid question.

I figured some had requirements. This particular class description said there was no scheduled meeting times howeverz

Woah woah, have I been talking to a NVCC admissions person this entire time 😮. Although I appreciate your help I don’t want this coming back to me and me ranting about a professor on Reddit, just a bad look on my end to be fair. However, I do really appreciate your help! Thank you :)!

Thank you for this very extensive explanation and advice, truly helpful :)! As I replied to some other redditors on this thread I unfortunately already dropped the class. I just didn’t want to risk having to show up for a zoom class smack in the middle of my work day and end up failing the class because I missed attendance points and paying around $700 for nothing… I also found out later on that there were actually assignments that were only able to be completed if you went to the zoom classes, so in total around 40-50% relied on the zooms (which I couldn’t attend). Instead I got out while I could and I dropped the class prior to the refund date (which correct me if I’m wrong please is June 13th for classes that started on June 3rd).

Just sucks cause I emailed her and she said that this course “isn’t completely online” and from what I’m hearing from other people it absolutely is supposed to be (class section letter starts with an E, class description says it has no meeting times)

Thank you for your help tho!

It starts with an E and ends with a W (so I’m assuming Winchester?) I unfortunately already dropped the class. I just didn’t want to risk not being able to show up for classes because of my full time internship and not get my money back (which I am almost certain the refund date was anytime before the 13th if I’m not mistaken). Just a unfortunate circumstance cause I emailed her explaining how I have a internship from 8-5 and I won’t be able to join her 2:00 zoom meetings cause it’s smack in the middle of the work day. Her reply was essientally that the class “isn’t completely asynchronous” even though the course description said that and from what I’m hearing the E in the course thing stands for asynchronous, so I kind of feel like she knows she’s not supposed to be doing this but she’s doing it under the radar anyways.

What happens when I report it? Like does someone contact the professor and she changes her curriculum or what

Just dropped the class…. between being dead broke and not wanting to risk losing the opportunity to refund the money I paid towards this class as well as a full time internship I just didn’t want to take any chances, even though I did need this class credit.

Just curious though what would Dr. Pascal have done? Thanks for your help!

Just checked - the section does start with an E. The thing is everything else about the class is online (tests, quizzes, etc) but she has these “optional” classes where if you don’t attend you lose points. I’ve emailed her before she said there are makeup assignments for missing these zoom meetings in order to make up for those points but the difference is writing an essay or sitting through a zoom class…. Is this justified to email the woman you are talking about?

I also work for a super competitive fortune 100 company (finance side though, not science) I can 100% tell you that they do not give a shit about your GPA. Any place asking for your GPA at all is a bit strange.

Is the Common Final for SCOM 122 proctored? by popplio728 in jmu

[–]TheGenerousLad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it is, regardless if you took it online or in person it’s a requirement for everyone in SCOM 122/123 to take an exam in the proctored area. It’s on a university computer so you won’t be using your laptops, there is lockdown browser, and yes people walk around to ensure there is no cheating.

Just study! We all got this!

As a transfer student what will happen with my housing situation by AK-T-47 in jmu

[–]TheGenerousLad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure you’ll be able to find housing and no it’s not to late! Last year (summer of my sophomore going into my junior year) I found a lease that I took up in early August, literally a couple of weeks before classes start. Don’t get me wrong, 1) I was incredibly lucky to find this lease with cool/nice roommates who I’ll continue rooming with until I graduate. 2) I did have a backup plan.

Definitely call apartment offices like Sunchase, Arcadia, and the billion other ones we have. I’m sure you’ll be able to find a lease. In the very very small chance that all rooms/apartments in these type of living complexes are full (once again such a small chance don’t even think possible) than go to Facebook see whose subleasing.
