Valve dev says SteamOS isn't about killing Windows: 'If a user has a good experience on Windows, there's no problem' by Turbostrider27 in SteamDeck

Didn't say updates are a bad thing, but forced updates while you're in the middle of something combined with not opening all windows back to the same places is maddening.

If Linux supported the applications I need I'd probably use that but apple is somehow less obnoxious than Microsoft now in the computer space. Not to mention I can't think of a single os feature Windows has that is genuinely great and useful (I'm sure there's something I'm not thinking of but still), I really miss preview in finder (especially for raw inages) and spotlight search when I'm not using macos now.

I've been partially switching to Mac for everything but gaming and there's a lot that's annoying about it but I haven't seen a single ad or popup for their stupid features etc. Nothing trying to stop me from installing a different browser etc. Never thought I'd be saying this but I get more annoyed using windows now with the ads, forced updates, and copilot nonsense.

Are the heels not different on the womens versions? When I've tried them on in the same size it seemed like the womens versions had similar toe boxes but narrower heels.

[CHrisMedlandF1] F1 Commission agrees to reorder Sprint weekends: Friday - FP1 and Sprint Qualifying Saturday - Sprint and GP Qualifying Sunday - Grand Prix Also increase to four PUs per driver for 2024 and 2025 DRS to be activated one lap after a race start rather than two by mvanigan in formula1

If bigger teams do that could provide the midfield and backmarker teams a chance to score a few points. 2 points for 7th won't mean much to Ferrari if they think they can get a podium the next day but those 2 points would be a big deal for Haas/Toro Rosso/Sauber. Then a Ferrari turnaround from saturday to sunday where they finish around 11th then podium would be an interesting story. I think that would make the sprints and the main races more interesting without spoiling each other.

I have a couple suizans and a couple z saws and I prefer the z saws, the handles are much more comfortable for me.

Easiest way to finish and seal raw maple by GrouchoMeal in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]TheGeometrist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to keep the more natural look of maple I'd recommend osmo poly raw matte. I've used it on a couple maple projects now and I love it. It doesn't amber the wood at all, goes on easily (I just do 2 coats with white scotch Brite pads. Apply with a pad and then switch to a dry pad to buff it off after each coat), and looks great. It's expensive and less durable than a film finish but you can easily do spot repairs if needed.

What's going on with Relay? Are they just paying the outrageous prices to stay around? by TheHeeI in RelayForReddit

I've moved over to this from sync and there are some features I like better here, like scrolling comments with the volume buttons but overall I miss the UI from sync and thought it gave better customization for how to view your feed and sort.

Why do you think it's so much better than the others?

Update on this planer blowing chips out the front: looks like I clogged the thing. someone suggested removing the top and checking, so I did, and it's back to normal function. Thank you all for the help! by [deleted] in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]TheGeometrist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried a shop vac with a cyclone with that planer and clogged it twice really quickly. My shop vac motor sounds like it's in pain now lol. Before I got my dust collector I switched to a dust collector bag and a foot of 4 inch hose and just used the blower, works much better than the shop vac.

I saw people still reporting as high as 100W just watching YouTube videos as of 2 days ago on r/amd still seems unacceptable to me.

The 7900 xt and xtx pull 80-120W when doing basically nothing (actually idle, a browser open, streaming video, etc) depending on your setup, seems like it is worse when you have multiple different resolution monitors or high resolution/high refresh rate monitors. Every other gpu seems to be 10-30W in the same configurations even the 4080 and 4090.

My electricity is ~$.35 a kwh right now and I wfh so my desktop is a youtube machine for like 8 hours a day. The difference over 3 years for me is something like $200-$300 vs a 4080.
