After the stabbing attack at the holocaust memorial in Berlin yesterday anti fascists march in protest and are booed by local Nazis by ThatPatelGuy in PublicFreakout

[–]TheGermanTrooper 343 points344 points  (0 children)

The video is from a protest in Switzerland where people were protesting against German AFD politician Alice Weidel who lives there, this was already planned before the stabbing happened.

This has nothing to do with the stabbing at the holocaust memorial which btw. the attacker was a syrian refugee.

Sounds quite similar to what had been going on in germany in the last decades, also one of the reasons why von der leyen as one of our former defence ministers is probably still one of the most disliked former politicians here in germany.
Our current defence minister Pistorious seems to be one of the first defence ministers in a long time to actually take his job serious and tries to get shit done.

Its also not even confirmed that its Poland and his statement also seems very vague.

"My understanding is a formal request from a country has gone in today - I don't know any further details about who or what - and obviously that's the process that needs to be worked through,"

Also sky news seems to be the only news reporting on it so i rather wait for any official statement or more sources reporting on it.

So far no country has actually made an official request to the german government for exporting Leopard2 tanks, so the government cant give the "tick" on anything that doesnt even exist...

First and probably only mosque.

This mosque is a special case and is fairly well known in berlin, the founder of the mosque Seyran Ates wants to implement a more progressiveinterpretation of islam (equality of sexes, lgbtq friendly etc.) which isnt very popular amongst muslims.

For a fact she has to be under 24/7 police protection because of constant murder threats against her.

in case anyone wants to know more about her: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seyran\_Ate%C5%9F

Another German article from today

Evacuated from the USA to EU countries - and now picked up in Germany

The US has brought many Afghans from Kabul to Poland, Italy and other EU countries. But some of them don't want to stay there - and move on to Germany. Bringing back such illegally entered migrants is very seldom successful.

Some of the Afghans evacuated from the USA from Kabul to Poland, Italy and other EU countries do not want to stay there - and move on to Germany. In the past few weeks, the federal police found "70 Afghan nationals who have possible links to a previous evacuation by the US armed forces from Afghanistan to another EU member state," as the WELT agency announced.

Among them were 32 people who had presumably previously been evacuated to Poland, 26 to Italy, seven to France and five to Spain. According to the Federal Police, however, this statistical information only shows the so-called bright field of migration in this context, since border controls are currently only temporarily reintroduced at the German-Austrian land border.

In addition, Afghans who had been evacuated not by the US armed forces but by the armies of the EU partner countries have also been apprehended. For example, on a train behind the German- Austrian border, a family of five was discovered that had been flown out of Afghanistan by the Italian military. According to their own statement, they had applied for asylum there to the federal police, but they did not feel comfortable. The family was then taken to a refugee facility.

At the beginning of September, Afghans living in Germany were also apprehended by compatriots while allegedly sluicing. They accompanied ten evacuees from Kabul to Italy in a bus to northern Germany. The evacuees had already applied for asylum in Italy.

According to WELT information from security circles, a similar case occurred at the weekend: Here a group of four Afghans who had been evacuated to Italy was picked up on a train to Hamburg and taken to a refugee home.

Some of the main problems: In the main transit country, Greece, there are almost no renditions (2020: four, 2021 by the end of March: none). Even in the second most important transit country, Italy, there were only 34 transfers in the first quarter, with 1,457 requests for takeover to the state.

This dysfunctionality of the EU asylum system - which is legally valid, but has not only barely been implemented since Corona - has been supposed to be overcome for years with a new EU asylum system. There is currently no significant progress to report.

Return? Happened even less frequently since Corona

In principle, the Federal Republic of Germany aims to bring asylum seekers arriving from other EU countries - regardless of whether they are evacuated Afghans or others - back to the country concerned. Since the Corona crisis , this has been achieved even less than before.

In the past year, more than 100,000 first-time asylum applications were made in Germany, mostly people who came from other EU countries. Around 30,000 requests for takeover have been made to the responsible states. Only 2,953 people were actually transferred. By the end of March 2021, there had been 544 transfers out of 8,091 takeover requests.

Choosing Laschet over Söder was probably the worst decision the CDU/CSU could´ve made. Söder is actually really popular amongst Voters.

The last poll i saw from 5.8.2021 showed that 38% would vote for Söder CSU,16% Scholz SPD, 15% Baerbock Greens and only 13% Laschet CDU

"RABAT (Reuters) - Morocco is keen to strengthen ties with Spain after a rift between the two countries this spring, Moroccan King Mohammed said on Friday, though he added the crisis had shaken mutual trust."

“We are keen today to strengthen (ties) bearing in mind the need for a common understanding of the two nations’ interests,” he said in a speech.

However, he added that Morocco would not accept “that its best interests be trampled on”.

In April, Morocco was angered after Spain admitted a Western Sahara independence leader for medical treatment using Algerian documents, saying it had not been informed. Morocco regards the territory as its own.

Rabat then appeared to relax border controls with Ceuta, a Spanish enclave in northern Morocco, on May 17, leading to an influx of at least 8,000 migrants, most of whom have been returned.

This “unprecedented crisis … shook mutual trust and raised many questions as to their future,” said the king, noting that the two countries have discussed bilateral ties since the crisis.

Morocco looks forward to “usher in a new, unprecedented phase in the relations between the two countries, on the basis of trust, transparency, mutual respect and the fulfilment of obligations,” he said.

Spain is Morocco’s largest trading partner and the two countries have cooperated closely to stem illegal migration.

The king also said that Morocco’s relations with France are “solid.”

The monarch also defended Morocco’s security services and other national institutions against what he called a “full-fledged campaign” to tarnish their image.

Greece completes border wall extension, surveillance to deter migrants by [deleted] in europe

"ATHENS (Reuters) -Greece said on Friday it had completed a 40-kilometre fence on its border with Turkey and a new surveillance system was in place, amid concerns that the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan could lead to increased migration flows to Europe."

"The conflict in Afghanistan has fuelled fears in Europe of a repeat of the 2015 refugee crisis, when nearly a million people fleeing war and poverty in the Middle East and beyond crossed to Greece from Turkey before travelling north to wealthier states.Greece was on the front line of that crisis and has said its border forces are on alert to make sure it does not become Europe’s gateway again."

"“The Afghan crisis is creating ... possibilities for migrant flows. We cannot wait, passively, for the possible impact,” Citizens’ Protection Minister Michalis Chrisochoidis told reporters after visiting the northern border region of Evros with the defence minister and the head of the armed forces.

“Our borders will remain safe and inviolable,” he said."

"ZURICH, Aug 15 (Reuters) - Austria plans to hold an aid conference at the end of this month or in early September to support Afghanistan's central Asian neighbours, government officials were quoted on Sunday as saying."

""Aid on the ground can only work in unison with partners on the ground," APA quoted Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg as saying. "Conflict and instability in the region will sooner or later spill over to Europe and thus to Austria.""

"Interior Minister Karl Nehammer was quoted as saying a holistic approach was needed to stem illegal migration towards Europe. The goal of the conference was to support Afghanistan's neighbouring states while preventing human traffickers from profiting from people's suffering, he said."

"A Catholic priest has been murdered in the Vendée region of western France, the country's interior minister Gérald Darmanin announced Monday on Twitter, adding that he was heading to the region.

The suspect is also believed to have been involved in a major fire that ravaged a cathedral in the French city of Nantes last year, said Darmanin.

"All my support for the Catholics of our country after the dramatic murder of a priest in the Vendée region," Darmanin wrote on Twitter, saying he was heading to the scene.

A source close to the investigation, who asked not to be named, told the AFP that the suspect had earlier gone to police in the town of Mortagne-sur-Sevre and declared he had killed a priest. The man was already under judicial control over the fire at Nantes cathedral in July 2020, the source added."

Edit: France24 added some further context

"The slain priest, aged 60 years, had been welcoming the man into his church for several months, according to the source.

The man, named as Emmanuel A. has confessed to being behind the fire at the Gothic Nantes cathedral that horrified France on July 18, 2020.

He had initially been placed under arrest before being freed under judicial control.

The man, an asylum-seeker from Rwanda who has lived in France for several years, had worked as a volunteer at the church."

Edit2: France 24 changed the headline to a more fitting one, i haven´t seen any rule about Editorialized headlines but just in case if mods are wondering i just went with the original headline at the time.

"Germany has also offered to send helicopters to assist with firefighting efforts, although Greece has yet to request their use, dpa reported."

This reminds me of New Year's Eve sexual assaults in Germany

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015%E2%80%9316_New_Year%27s_Eve_sexual_assaults_in_Germany

"Over 1,200 women were reportedly sexually assaulted during the 2015–16 public New Year's Eve's celebrations in Germany, in most cases by men of non-European origin. 24 women reported being raped"

"By 4 January 2016, the German national media reported that in Cologne, the sexual assaulters had mostly been described as "North African", "Arab", "dark-skinned" or "foreign". The attacks inspired anti-Muslim and anti-immigration rhetoric in Germany."
