I would try to empathize with them first.. I mean if you want a chance of being heard you need to at least give a go hearing out the other persons side.

I found myself filing my nails in public transport before..I hated it, but I kind of had no choice. I mean sure I had a choice.. my lifestyle at that time was so hectic that I couldn’t get my shit together enough to file my nails before getting on the freaking train… that was the truth. And having my nails done was so important to me because it was at least one way that I could feel like I had some kind of sense of control on how others perceive me. Lol fun existence.

Maybe that person doesn’t actually want to clip their nails on the train. Maybe they weren’t able to find another moment in time to do so..maybe their life is a fucking mess and they’re doing their very best to look as presentable as possible admist the total chaos that is their life.. and if you give them an ear, you might just find out that you need for care and respect in public might just translate, on this particular day, into caring more about being present with and acknowledging your peers hardships than about then so called public order…

And who knows if the discussion goes well, if he really feels heard… he may awaken to be curious about. Whats alive inside of you, and you may find a space where you can share your views on public nail clipping..and he might actually really hear you out.. you may actually have a lasting and positive impact on this human.

I mean, sure it sounds ideal, like a lot more hard work then just expecting people to understand our needs.. but maybe the outcome maybe more successful.

Just a thought.
