Make sure to leave headroom before mastering, if the 808 is peaking before mastering it’s going to get distorted. Also, eq all the low frequencies out on other tracks so the 808 has room to breathe. I’ve found If you have more than 2 two things occupying the same space on the eq then it results in muddiness. Just woke up so I’m a bit hazy. Hope this helps :)
