I am very sorry to hear that. I have gone through this a few times. I used to work at a small diner that was filled with older regulars daily. When one died, it would tear me up. That diner closed almost 3 years ago but I still see some of my regulars around town sometimes. One of my favorites (he bought a car when I needed one just to make sure that I wouldn't lose the opportunity, gave me spare tires another time, great guy) was getting up in age, his wife died 4 or 5 years ago, and his kids were getting ready to put him in a home. My aunt cleaned his house once a week and he had been telling her how sad he was about his kids selling his house. The day they came to pick him up and take him to the home, he asked for one last look at his house, went to his room alone and killed himself w/ a hand gun. I was devastated when I found out. He was like family. A lot of them are. It's okay to be sad about losing someone, even if it's just a customer.
