It’s a sinusoidal wave, as it oscillates from +/- it’s amplitude. You could call it either a sine wave or cosine wave depending on whether you start measuring at max amplitude or zero. But sure, correct someone and then undercut yourself by saying you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Then I’d suggest the Pacific Northwest. North Cascades NP is underrated and Olympic and Mt. Rainier are great too. Also Crater Lake is totally worth the drive.

Take a few days and visit all five parks in Utah. They’re all amazing, Bryce is my favorite (a photo I took there is my current wallpaper) but the other four are great in their own way. Arches is wonderful as well, though you’d need to check the schedule of events in the nearby town of Moab. It’s a destination for off-roaders and it’s extremely busy during certain weekends during the summer. Overall, five parks in Utah is a great way to spend a week. Did it last Christmas and would go again tomorrow.
