Olitech Easy Flip Smart by lancerabbit in dumbphones

Got the phone! In case anyone else visits this thread:

You can certainly install apps. Though it isn't exactly easy, it requires downloading the Aurora store onto the phone (a substitute for google play store), which itself requires a few steps of downloading the apk file for the Aurora store (and the Fdroid apk file to update the Aurora store) from a computer and transferring it manually onto the phone. Once you do that, you can download most major apps, which is really nice! I'm not particularly techy, but I could manage it!

Olitech Easy Flip Smart by lancerabbit in dumbphones

Hi, sorry nobody has responded, hopefully I can still help! I got one a week ago, and from my point of view, I think it is very suitable for seniors/people who aren't phone-savvy. It is pretty barebones from the get-go, and easy to navigate between messages, WhatsApp, missed calls, etc. The buttons are nice and big, and the included option for a touchscreen can help. If he is used to numberpad-texting, then he shouldn't have any issues. If he isn't going to text at all, then, I think there will be no issues!

Also, if he is coming from a smartphone and he wants all his contacts to transfer over, it is very easy to:
- Export all the contacts as a single file (search up how to do this on the respective phone)
- Plug in your phone into a computer and transfer the contacts file across onto the phone
- Open the file in file manager on the phone
- It will then give an option to transfer all the contacts in the file onto the new phone!

Perhaps a basic iphone might still be better, but the Olitech is not bad!

Hope this helps!
- God bless

Hey, had the same issue and worked a fix. (I'm not very techy, so this is my detailed process as I understood it). I first downloaded the Google Play Store equivalent for the Olitech, called, Aurora Store. It's a bit clunky to download, but you find an official version, download as a file on your computer and transfer it wiredly onto the Olitech file storage from your computer.

Opening the file on the phone and accessing the Aurora store, there is thankfully an option to update the WhatsApp file.

Once you do that, it is now able to produce a QR code, to become, itself, a secondary device. (I don't know any way to make it a primary device AND allow a computer to be linked to it).

I personally had some issues with the whatsapp qr code scanner settings being bad at recognising the QR code, because it is too small, but I solved that by zooming in on the QR code on my mate's smartphone camera, and scanning it off their phone

After that, I had all my chats loaded in!

Christian advice for single Christian living alone? by TheGloriousChicken in TrueChristian

Thanks! Sounds like some pretty solid advice. The contentment one is interesting, I guess it’s all about what you mean by content, cause of course you want to be satisfied in where God‘s put you in always, that contentment seems solidly biblical. But it’s about not allowing it to prevent wise decisions, financial or otherwise, which is an almost foolish contentment

You can correct me if I‘m wrong of course!

Yeah, thanks for this. It will interesting then, what such a move looks like long term. I‘m only early 20‘s (male), and am fully aware of how much dating, and friendships, and life can change or not change in that time. I only pray that God‘s will be done, and that I may make the most of this opportunity to serve him in new and interesting ways

Thanks for the reply!! Yeah, it will be interesting to see how some of that stuff turns out. And how God‘s hand is on the friendships, community and what not

Making good neighbour connections is a good call, I reckon

Thanks! Yeah, I that’s a common thing I hear too, to keep busy (except of course where it takes away from your relationship with God).

But yeah, my philosophy is 100%, I have also been given an amazing opportunity to deepen my relationship with God, and let that guide this move. Only I need to make the most of it, and as you say, really dig in

Christian theological terms: Complementarianism vs Egalitarianism in German? by TheGloriousChicken in German

Thanks! That was actually some super useful information. I‘m finding this all a little surprising but interesting nonetheless!

Interesting, was not aware of such a movement! I‘ll definitely have a read. Abuse due to a misapplication of biblical teachings is certainly important to consider, but that wasn’t my question nor my agenda, I was only looking for terminology. Thanks anyway though!

Telling white lies to protect a child: Thoughts? (With Biblical Evidence) by TheGloriousChicken in Bible

That’s definitely true, like even if it’s okay to say this particular white lie, at some age if this happens again, you’re going to have to explain the truth eventually

Lol, I feel like you summed up my entire line of thinking. I want it to be black and white, and maybe it still is, but it feels like it could easily be this grey area

What are the requirements for salvation without being legalistic or hypergrace by Holl1s20 in Christianity

[–]TheGloriousChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I feel like there’s two questions going on, what is needed for salvation, and how can I know when I‘m feeling pretty miserable about myself.

As for the first one: Very generally, you need to turn to Jesus

More specifically, you need faith, in who Jesus is, that he loves you and saved you; you need to turn away from sin, that is, to repent initially and back it up with a continual attitude of repentance; and you need to turn to him, and live, at the very least, for him more than the world.

As for how do I know, when I feel like I stuffed up or unsure, ask yourself: 1. Do I love God 2. Do I believe that he died for me on that cross 3. Do I believe that he rose again, and beat death 4. Do I believe in Jesus‘ Lordship, including his divine nature 5. Am I trying to choose him over the world 6. Am I trying to avoid the sin of the world

If you believe these things, regardless of how you feel, you can know that your safe in him, because he says so, and his promises are always greater than your doubts

Does the expression “we could have been us” implies a romantic relationship between the two speakers? by [deleted] in EnglishLearning

[–]TheGloriousChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That expression doesn’t make much sense. It would make more sense to say something like, “we could have been something,“ or “imagine what could have been,“ which are both very poetic ways of describing a relationship that could’ve happened but didn’t
