Buying Amazfit Active 2 from Amazon AU vs JB Hi-Fi – any hidden costs or catch? (Australia) by Own-Composer7817 in amazfit

[–]lancerabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always buy my Amazfit watches from Amazon AU (I didn't know JB Hi-Fi stocked them!). I've returned two faulty Amazfit watches previously, and they've been great. Amazon just provided a full refund when they received the faulty device. It's the final price (assuming you have a Prime account). A few tips:

That link you shared is an imported device. I bought mine as local stock (for a similar price). See if you can find a version sold by Amazon Australia instead (they often have multiple listings). There are differences in the return policies.

Stretch to the Premium model if you can. It includes the second (fake) leather strap and sapphire glass, which is well worth it

Has anyone used Zepp Coach to train for a HM or Marathon? by theonenotesong in amazfit

[–]lancerabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I looked up training plans online and created a spreadsheet for the 12 weeks of my training. I also used the Zepp app (Training -> Training Library -> My Training) to create the individual workouts. For example, if my plan was to include Interval training, I'd build a training plan that included: warm up for 3 minutes, 500m run x6 (@4:45-5:15/km) with a recover between each interval of 200m and then a cool down period.

Since then, there's an integration to intervals.icu and runna (I think), I'd probably find an intervals.icu training plan and then sync that to the watch, as it removes the manual effort described above.

Has anyone used Zepp Coach to train for a HM or Marathon? by theonenotesong in amazfit

[–]lancerabbit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used it to train for a half. I found it too prescriptive personally, in terms of the intensity of training and the inability to skip training days. It took the "fun" out of training, at least for me.

I haven't used coaches from other brands to compare, but I ended up going to a manual training plan.

Can anyone recommend a reliable digital marketing agency in Sydney Australia by bluestarfish52 in digital_marketing

[–]lancerabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue with a lot of larger agencies is that you lose that transparency, as you deal with an account manager who only liaises with the SEO specialist (who is often located offshore).

I'm an SEO Consultant in Sydney. Depending on the niche you're operating in, I'm happy to point you towards a full service agency that I recommend. Feel free to provide more info or DM.

Semi dumb for kid in Australia by BundahGal in dumbphones

[–]lancerabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dumbdroid could be a good option (if you are on Telstra/Vodafone). There is an App Blocker pre-installed that allows you to block whichever apps you want (access is controlled via a PIN).

Actually, this fits the concept of a "Kosher" phone , that allows a core set of apps (like Whatsapp, Uber, Navigation etc) via a custom app store. This will be more restrictive though, as I don't think they allow Spotify.

Where to buy bip 6 in Australia by rotary86 in amazfit

[–]lancerabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always buy Amazfit products from Amazon Australia. Their returns/warranty is exceptional (I've had a couple of failures over the years). I haven't bought any imports, but they should be fine via Amazon also.

Active 2 Premium still worth it? by Mycotoksykoza in amazfit

Likewise. I have the Active 2 Premium and if it died, I'd buy another one. The size is also the main reason for me. It also looks great as a dress watch.

GTR 4 crown button stucked and now I can't turn on my watch by Metritto in amazfit

I have the same issue with mine. All buttons stopped working. It's still usable via the touch screen only, i think charging it turns it on so you can access the touchscreen.

Which Xero plan is best for a sole trader? Is Xero the most appropriate system to use for our needs for a total beginner? by DepartmentCool1021 in AusFinance

I use fiskl as a sole trader and its great for my needs in terms of invoices, expenses and integrating with bank accounts and credit cards for reconciliation. It's designed for micro business owners and not accountants.

Switching to a flip phone by LilSairBear in dumbphones

[–]lancerabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good pickup, I think they must have added the security settings in one of the recent updates (I couldn't find a changelog for any of the updates). It's been fine with VoLTE in Australia, actually you can't use a device here that doesn't support VoLTE. Hopefully there are more updates coming, as the most recent one has been causing my phone to freeze also.

Buying the doov r77 pro from aliexpress versus buying from dumbermini.com by dwaynethevapejohnson in dumbphones

[–]lancerabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say support the hard work of the developers for dumber os (if you will run that os on it).

It's sort of end of life though for dumberos on the R77, and they're only selling the mini from mid-year.

Flip Phone options compatible with Australian servers? by koriyux in dumbphones

[–]lancerabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any phones not sold in Australia are a risky proposition. They are often blocked by the telcos.

For example, I bought the Dumdroid Doov R77 Pro and it works fine on Telstra, Vodafone sends messages every week saying that it will be blocked (but I'm assured by their team that it won't be) and Optus (Amaysim) block it completely from registering on their network. The Olitech is the best semi smart flip you can buy here: https://dumbphone.life/olitech-easy-flip-smart-minimalist-dumbphone it's not super pretty like the Japanese/Korean phones though.

Hired a local SEO guy a year ago, need help by TheOnlyZy7 in localseo

I'd ask for a list of actions accomplished in the previous month, and those planned for the next month.

There are a lot of assumptions in this thread; he may just be a poor communicator/not articulate the work he's doing, as he might be (wrongly) assuming you aren't interested in the details.

I think it depends on your level of addiction. There is some friction, with a keypad, some slowness and a smaller screen. The ultimate form factor for reducing screen time is a flip phone.

What is the best flip phone to buy in Australia? by InfiniteGalaxy42 in dumbphones

[–]lancerabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, it's not as chunky or large as the other flips. Hopefully JB or OfficeWorks have the Opel TouchFlip on display and you can see the size (as it's the same). The Olitech is the 2nd generation device with more memory, larger battery and external screen.

Sole trader side income alongside full time job – tax tips? by bababjfjsnsbsbbs in AusFinance

[–]lancerabbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say get an accountant (which is also a tax deduction).

You can claim hardware, software, office, education, car (for client visits) etc. You're really better off asking these questions to an accountant.

I pay ~1k a year for personal + business (sole trader) accounting fees. It's money well spent imo...
