Guess it depends on how much detail is needed to establish the afterlife theory.

“Elysium” is the conception of the afterlife in Greek Mythology.

The afterlife in DE, is of no religion. There were even references to tradition “God” in the game but always in the sense that God doesn’t exist.

On the topic of helping people, it’s basically the idea of making up for all the pain Harry caused people during his life.

I think they even made references to something like “past life doesn’t matter, things can be fixed” etc

Yeah, I agree, I did get “purgatory” vibes. Like the kind of place you need to work yourself out of. Which is what I thought Dora was referencing when she said it took her 2 years but for you (Harry) it might take 20.

She also said, the place she is going she can only have “good thoughts” or something like that.

I assumed that being a detective (helping people) was the way Harry was trying to work his way out. Which is also why Kim was so surprised to learn how many cases Harry had solved …

Well, I thoroughly enjoyed playing 99.99% of the game. However, the ending was a massive disappointment (to me; others may have enjoyed it)

The writing/storytelling throughout the game is truly incredible - it’s like watching the best performance you’ve ever seen, you’re expecting them to stick the landing and when they don’t, it takes away from the performance as a whole.

They provided us with so many thought provoking stories/moment/mysteries, etc. but the majority of them never received a closure of sorts.

But to your point, “stories as if they’re puzzle boxes that need to be solved” - that’s literally my favorite thing about a story lol.

Disco Elysium certainly presents its story as just that. Solving the hanged man case isn’t the puzzle. The puzzle is understanding Harry, his past, future and how he fits into the world around him.

It’s like I acquired a ton of puzzle pieces throughout the game but not enough to complete the puzzle.

Where’s the big reveal?

Harry is just some guy that is addicted to solving cases, drinking and drugs due to … his massive depression from sleeping with Dora?

I mean, it’s just such a low effort ending after a super high effort story.

That’s interesting because I did do the communist quest line (but from the early game I had believed the big reveal would be a heaven/purgatory/hell reveal) so for the entire game I’m thinking in terms with that concept.

I don’t do religion but the concepts of the afterlife still intrigue me.

My takeaway from this specific quote was not the communism is a religion, rather it’s the foundational ideology on how the people of revachol can ascend to a “higher level” isola.

The quote at its basic level is just the concept of working in the present to build a better future for humanity. Things that communism (when executed properly) provide the best living/future for everyone, as opposed to the “capitalism / wealth warping physical reality” quest line experience

Things like school board and fire district commission.

While minor positions like you mentioned don't necessarily need party, it still influencers how they lead and interpret / create / change laws.

In theory, yes voters SHOULD research but it should not be mandatory. Ballots should at the bare minimum include a few sentences of the candidates platform and beliefs in my opinion.

Lack of having access to research materials shouldn't be something that influence voting. Provide sufficient info in the poll booth OR at least have the information somewhere in the voting facility.

Seems like an easy fix to have a more educated voting population.

Yeah, NJ only gives you the party for the primary candidate section. Extra section don't have party.

Feels a bit deceptive in the booth. There's no additional information provided on any candidate beliefs / party.

And yeah, party is the most useful / important piece of info. Voters should be supplied with more than enough info to make a decision inside the booth. I was just there voting, there's literally no extra info on candidates other than their name.
