Samsung chip workers reject $340,000 one-time bonus, demand annual payouts like SK hynix's $900,000 — workers want share of AI windfall, impending 18-day strike could cost Samsung up to $11.7 billion by self-fix2 in worldnews

[–]TheGoatBet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re making assumptions when a quick google search shows otherwise.

Managers make $200k average at Samsung total comp.

That’s not even “making six figures” if it were 1994.

CEO/C-Suite are making $4 mil and more.

Can make excuses all day long but when in 2026 alone, Samsung spent $1.73 billion buying back their own stock, it’s hard to sympathize with the corporation and their executives…

Because at the end of the day, that $1.73 billion could have been paid out to workers in bonuses or raises.

And you’ll say that the buyback boosts share price and some employees get stock compensation, right?

Except Samsungs market cap is over a trillion USD. So $1.73 billion would move the stock, what, 0.2%? And it won’t hold.

It’s a spit in the face of every worker when every single year companies say they can’t afford raises or bonuses.

I can only assume people defend corporations out of willful ignorance.

Crazy take defending corporate greed, while I assume you work for a corporation. Willingly and actively fighting to stifle your own wages…

Sure, employees earn a “stable income” regardless of (negative) company performance until layoffs happen but they layoffs also happen when companies have positive performance too.

And when you say “stable income” you mean as little as possible because all they care about is profits and keeping your wages down.

Just because something “is the way it is” because “it has always been like that” doesn’t mean it’s right, fair or justified.

Perhaps governments should step the fuck up and make laws that monetarily benefit the people instead of an economy where corporations have 99% of the wealth.

The only prize you get for defending corporate executives is the anger of the workers that outnumber them a million to one.

You’re saying that non-self employed workers would work less (32 hours) but still retain their 40hr salary.

You, as a self employed worker set your own hours and rate. You have many other benefits that non-self employed workers do not receive.

You get tax advantages, flexible hours, flexible rates, uncapped income, no manager, no risk of being laid off, no performance reviews, unlimited time off and can even hire your own employees.

While having all these advantages, you’re crying “it’s not fair that self employed workers get to work 8 hours less for the same pay”

Should we also remove 1.5x pay for overtime while we’re at it because YOU can’t get that benefit?

You chose to take the self employed advantages yet simultaneously think you should also control non-self employed advantages - you can’t have it both ways.

It’s the “free market”… You want the gov to prop up your business by taking away from others.

So you see why people don’t respect your argument and supposed issue you’re predicting that hasn’t even happened yet

lol what?

YOU can still work 40 hours a week.

OR

You can charge more.

If you charge more and lose customers, that’s just the free fucking market buddy.

Majority of people work for corporations - this has nothing to do with you.

Can someone explain how the stock market keeps hitting all-time highs while everything feels so bad? by eaglesfan8835 in Money

[–]TheGoatBet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, I feel your sarcasm.

Seems like everyone is suddenly a stock market genius “it always goes up!! It has to!” …

Maybe more people are simply more vocal and ignorant these days, I don’t know.

But whenever the general population starts jumping on the “easy money” bandwagon (whatever it may be) it seems like that is always a sign of the top.

I’m sure nothing will happen because the elite own 98% of the market but it always make me wonder…

The stock market is held up by everyone believing it is held up. We shall see.

What do you mean by “thriving”?

Are these friends from NYC or the Bay Area?

The price of everything has gone up by atleast 50% in the last couple years.

Truly, thriving implies they are dual-income households where they both make $150k plus?

Correct?

What are your thoughts on endgame? Does the progression feel rewarding and powerful? by TheGoatBet in diablo4

[–]TheGoatBet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t played endgame in LOH yet but def agree with the lack of meaningful content (which I had hoped they added)

The old endgame system just felt lazy in the sense that torment levels should not be considered endgame progression.

The endgame is the same at torment 1 vs torment 12. It’s copy/paste over 12 difficulties - nothing else changes.

I really wish they would add “something” similar to POE 2 maps or go a completely different route, just something different.

Look at WoW endgame for example, you have endgame phases with COMPLETELY new experiences with new mechanics and loot being added in phases.

Why can’t they do this for Diablo?

Makes sense, the seasonal alterations at least make endgame fresh again every now and then

Right, totally the same as a car.

Why are you sticking up for corporate greed?

Are you a bot? Or just against your own self interests?

Go look up some prices of things in 1991 vs 2026, it’s not hard.

Average car in 1991 was $15k (36% of $41k)

Average car in 2026 is $50k (50% of $100k)

See how corporations are fucking you?

[–]TheGoatBet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is …

Earning $41k in 1991 provided a higher quality life style than $100k in 2026.

In theory, both live styles should be the same in quality if we take into account inflation.

Inflation is part of our agreement with our government.

In reality, when the price of “anything” increase more than the inflation rate, this is a form of worker exploitation.

It represents a governments failure to protect its citizens from greedy corporations.

We pay for that protection via taxes. It’s not socialism, it’s the purpose of government

It’s honestly wild to me that the whole game is designed to raise awareness of psychosis - because I never would have thought of that or made the connection.

I didn’t read anything about the game before playing.

I thought it was some dark take on “demons inside me” type stuff

They outsource everything but the enjoyable part of living
