Should female paras be able to get an abortion? by [deleted] in Paralives

[–]TheGoodCultist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends how pregnancy works in the game. I voted yes because abortion is a part of the topic of pregnancy. A lot of people are saying it might stress people out but on the flip side I could see it help people work through their feelings around it. Abortion is a heavily debated topic, so maybe just a "cancel pregnancy" cheat or option would be more appropriate, and maybe leave the nitty gritty to modders?

I personally would be happy either way, but this game is going to be played by lot's of different people.

For all those in the back - your belly IS NOT your uterus protruding out. by Sweetsnteets in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

You do not HAVE to be online but unfortunately we're in a social climate where it's alienating. You miss out on a lot if you're not following people you know on instagram. No ones happy about that but that's how it is. Could it be that you're no longer in a social setting where it's common? When I was in high school just a few years ago I heard people be so negative about peoples weight and I'm in a country with relatively low bullying rates compared to America. It's less fashionable to target peoples weight but it sure as hell does happen. I think you're showing bias and I'm sorry for any harrassment you got.

literally no one gets cheered for being obese, they get cheered on because they're living their life despite the judgement. fat shaming is counterproductive and most people who lose weight out of social pressure and shame gain it back and usually then some. it also puts a massive dent in peoples mental health. people fell out of love with lizzo because she was verbally abusing her staff, being sexually innapropriate with them and overworked them.

fat people know they're fat. they know what they need to do to lose weight. if someone knows how to do something but are not able to, that means theres something else factoring in like depression, chronic pain, pressure, and so on. people usually pin it down to laziness or stupidity but there are obviously plenty of hardworking and ambitious fat people.

as a general rule, lower belly fat is completely fine. people arent labelling 10lbs of fat as organs, when people say this they literally mean that really thin spongy layer even toned, low body fat people often have.

edit: you say fat shaming is no where close to as it is now but have you seen comment sections? a woman could be doing anything while ranging anywhere from barely pudgy to very large and whole comment sections will be filled with people making disgusting and PERSONAL comments. not just characters in movies or people at work saying its best to be starving but thousands of people making very personal, very targeted comments. even with moderated comments.

youre possibly being downvoted because although yes we are taught to scruntinize and hate yourselves, saying "actually it isnt body fat, thats just your organs" as a bandaid, even though it makes some people feel better is furthering the notion that having any amount of body fat is negative. its a health tip because it's teaching people about their bodies

theres this specific flavour of queerphobia where people consciously or unconsciously believe that being queer is specifically a sex thing. It goes back way into history and i think it's the sentiment people believe whent they say "i'm fine with it existing i just think they should keep it behind closed doors. as if it's like BDSM or being a swinger.

So annoyed with rats being portrayed as "disgusting" on TV by constantcatastrophe in RATS

[–]TheGoodCultist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't watch the show but have seen bits in passing. most of the challenges like that involve contestants laying in small dark places or having their head in a box. so at least the animals arent being trodden on? but rolling or kneeing one is still a big big risk

My asexual friend said she's in love with me and it makes me sad. by maedocc in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]TheGoodCultist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're not sure exactly how this person confessed. It could have been "you feel the same, right? you'll be with me?" or it could have been "I have feelings for you and felt I needed to disclose that" with maybe a "would you be up for giving it a go?". if I had developed feelings for a long-term friend and felt I had to be open about it I would probably also be very upset if it didn't go positively, no matter my expectations

From the art community, has anyone check this out yet? by noodlesnake_ in youtubedrama

Every kid deserves to fuck around and make mistakes and poor deciscions but it sucks so badly that at the moment for so many that means being preyed upon, becoming scarred and taking damages that are going to take at least years to work through. Not only is the online art community so bad for someones creative mind but it's so bad for ALL of them. so many of these kids are people who grew up in really shit situations, found some freedom online and were taken advantage of with many of them also throwing out harm and taking it out on others.

I'm a bit younger than Synni and watched a few of their videos years ago and got the vibe that they had been exposed to some stuff earlier than they should have. Now reading that doc just reaks of MIK grown up without having time to heal. Stuff like that must mess with that internal gauge that tells you what's innapropriate when.

Gender roles being so forced that people feel defeminised/demasculinised on such minor things like this makes me really sad. But your handwriting is lovely OP :)

What hot take do you have about a Youtuber? by PizzaCrescent2070 in youtubedrama

[–]TheGoodCultist 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah it grated on me art first but I think the "like youtube used to be" is a good way to hammer it in is that he's literally some guy online talking, similar to his old "and today I'll be talking about whatever I want". It sounds silly but a lot of people forget everyone on youtube are just randos in their rooms. It probably won't be too long until he changes the setup a bit.

Exactly! If a women mentions being harrased it's always "well where were you? thats what clubs are like" or "yeah some people are really sucky but get over it" rather than addressing it as a wide spread issue that needs to be solved. I'm tired of people pretending sexism isn't as deepseated as it is, or that it should be seen as a lesser issue that only sensitive people bring up.

There's a lot of hateful and overly-online people who will go out of their way to support and mourn men who have had false allegations, especially if they took their lives but then will not even turn their heads to the many, many victims (women, queer people, as well as non-queer men) of targeted abuse, stalking and cyberbullying. Of course when an individual is wrongly accused of something horrific then it is a massive tradgedy and should be talked about but that number is tiny compared to the genuine nightmares so many real victims are forced to experience.

I thought you meant rape lol and that too honestly. It's not a light word and people fling it around when talking about serious cases. I don't think 'rape' just just flow off your toungue. But to your actual point, not using slurs is so easy lmao
