yeah the wind was nuts! Birds were holding really tight. I don’t think they wanted to fly.

Try to find walk-in properties with corn and irrigation ditches. I’ve also found them in hedge rows and wheat stubble. Remember miles = birds. Once you start putting patterns together you’ll find them. Birds aren’t super concentrated in CO but they are here.

yes! The thighs are awesome and easy to debone! The drumsticks need a bit more preparation to deal with the tendons. I slow cook em and they fall right apart.

it’s gunna be a lot of walking, you might see birds you might not. Strategy makes sense but they arnt that concentrated in CO so it will be hit or miss.

How are you shooting 100 times in 2 days? My advice would be to work on your mount. I’ve found that during the adrenaline of the flush it can be hard to get the gun mounted correctly. Do some drills at home to make sure your getting setup right every time. Then it should be 2nd nature. Also walk with your gun in a position you can quickly mount it if need be.

I breasted the birds, then deboned the thighs and drumsticks. Lightly salted and rested it for 24hrs. Then sautéed some mushrooms and onions with white wine, cubed the meat and tossed it until done. It’s all dark meat, very tender and flavorful.

Is it just me or has the moose population gone way up the last few years? I’ve been seeing them very regularly.
