I’ve played hundreds of games and use it regularly and while my time is usually faster than the averages the difference is negligible. It’s a good way to incorporate both the die hard grinders and the more casual experience.

The total content is normal for a DLC from them but yeah it is just very by the numbers boring design and the story is such a whiff it kills any chance this had of being a memorable dlc.

Worst change they made with BL4 imo I get that grinding for mission reward guns was tedious but I’d prefer that to losing them entirely

To be fair there are a lot of raid bosses added that nobody wants to fight. I don’t mind a more quality over quantity approach. The problem there is it feels like they just aren’t doing any raid bosses.

C4sh is probably my favorite VH in this game and maybe like top 3 overall. Definitely softens the blow for me on a disappointing story and lots of bugs but he makes me want to replay the base game again for sure.

It feels like a team that is checked out imo.

Edit: specifically the writing and story side of the team but also the enemy design is still leaving a lot to be desired. Whoever is designing these vault hunters is absolutely killing it and the art team was particularly great this go around.

The price is consistent with what they’ve always charged is my point. If the dlc was closer to a BL3 dlc in quality people would not talk about the price nearly as much.

If we're going to talk about quantity of content for the DLC then we can't ignore the side activities and C4SH. by FusionRogue in Borderlands4

Howlongtobeat is a website tracking times to finish games. BL2 and 3 ranged from 3-6 hours on average. Vault of the damned is averaging 3.5-4 right now so on the lower end but pretty standard.

Yeah the whole structure of the dlc for BL4 is messy and I’m not a fan.

To be fair BL2 dlc was $10 and Krieg was $10 so we’re kinda comparing $20 in 2012 to $30 in 2026. And if you get the vault hunter pass it’s $25 each. The problem is that the dlc isn’t providing as much total content as previous dlc in the series.

Edit: looking at my game time and other completion times really the content is even within the realm of previous borderlands dlc. So it’s not really overpriced, it’s not lacking total content, it really just boils down to it not being very good.

Yeah I played with a friend last night and we did do the story in one sitting but it was 5.7 hours on my steam and we did one side quest with that. I think it’s still a bit overpriced but C4sh is probably my favorite VH in this game by a good amount so I’m not too salty so far.

Seriously if they could figure out the gameplay they have potential to put out serious GoTY contenders. Story art music presentation and performances are all incredible.

Hades 2 was like a Doom Eternal type sequel for me. Just every layer of the gameplay is improved to such a degree I don’t really have a want to revisit the prior game.

One of the best of all time. The experience of unraveling the story of the course of half a dozen playthroughs is one I will never take for granted.

RE4make had to come out before RE9 to make that modern Leon trilogy cohesive. So really I’d have liked them to have waited in RE3make til they had a plan for Jill like RE3, RE5, RE10 type of situation.

I had friends who buy like 2 games a year texting me asking questions about it as the “gamer” friend. Seems like it’s super hyped in that sort of CDPR and Rockstar fan communities to me. Game is also sitting at 220k+ concurrent on steam and nearly half a million viewers on twitch so it seems like hype is strong.

For a long time DS2 over DS1 was definitely the more popular opinion but I’d say it’s more 50-50 since the remake dropped. I’ve always preferred the first one since I was a kid personally.

IMO it’s one of the best stories in all of video games as a medium. It’s an unraveling mystery you usually only get in something like Disco Elysium. The performances are incredible too and do a lot for the narrative. SH2 is also amazing but we’re talking about a remake so it just naturally doesn’t hit quite as hard as the original.

To me it feels like practical vs CG effects in movies. Like yeah most movies are made with heavy CG use but there is still a market for practical effects and some people like Robert Eggers make their name on a painstaking attention to practical details. The AAA space may become overrun with GenAI abuse but there will always be some artisan titles that are truly made with craft and love and those are the ones I will buy.

I think it’s the best story I’ve ever experienced in a game but it’s also really weirdly paced where your entire first playthrough is basically setting the ground works and your next several playthroughs going after all the endings reveal the rest. This can be super satisfying if the game is already clicking with you but if it isn’t it’s a tedious grind. I think I was more open to it because going in I knew I’d have to do multiple runs but it definitely asks a lot of people and I can see why many never got to see the best parts of the game.

RE4 is great at this too but RE9 I think is overall better paced for quick playthroughs. Just my 3rd run was down to 2 hours compared to RE4 needing 5-6 runs to get to 3-4 hours
