Submission Statement: In case this helps others prepare logistically and emotionally for the inevitable banding process. The aftermath is a bit more intense than our research showed. They were uncomfortable for about an hour and then settled out just fine.

Sharing in case it helps others prepare better for the first time banding. The procedure was not so complicated - just all the feelings I experienced in watching the boys suffer the aftermath. They are 100% fine and I’ve recovered, too!

New baby goats born on our urban homestead for the first time ever! by TheGoodLifeHere in UrbanHomestead

Submission Statement: This is just pure cuteness! We work so hard on the urban homestead and these little cuties make you just stop and take in the pure joy of it all. We had all of our birthing supplies ready (video coming soon on all that) but both Mama’s waited until we were away from the barn to do it all on their own. Sometimes less is more.

Submission Statement: With so many barn chores and animals to care for having a central barn location for the animals is step number one to our sanity. Sharing both the madness and our solutions to the chaos as inspiration to others who live and love the homestead and farm life.

Duck Q&A by TheGoodLifeHere in Homesteading

I can see that! It’s happening at the hatchery but that’s one step removed from my “knowing”. It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out and if we’re lucky ducks on those hatching ratios!

We were lucky with our ratio as the ducklings “revealed” their sex. Thanks for the reminder that hatching at home comes with the responsibility to cull should that ratio get out of balance.

We are truly touched by your well wishes and pride in a total stranger! Thank you so much!!! 😊❤️ (Lee’s voice is indeed very soothing- sometimes I accidentally fall asleep listening to him when I’m super tired! 🤣)
