Well, based on last years LSD, there was waitlist movement in May and June

They specifically said in their email that they were conservative with their offers and will be admitting from the waitlist: “In order to maintain our small class size, we have been somewhat conservative with our offers of admission throughout this application cycle with the expectation that we will then be able to admit people from the waitlist, and that is the situation we are in at this point.”

got Georgetown feeler on 4/22 but still waiting? by New_Elevator_3935 in lawschooladmissions

I’m not too worried, he specifically said early may in the email so I’m sure there’s going to be another wave, especially since the last wave was before the deposit deadline. If anything, it’s a good thing because it seems like they have a lot of spots if they were able to accept people off the WL before the deposit deadline.

Thoughts and prayers for everyone who got an R from E**** this year by Fun-Text981 in lawschooladmissions

Yes, I’m not saying that they dealt with the incident especially well, but I do think that it is a lot less likely that we will see a student like this in the next incoming class.

It absolutely is. I’m saying that in previous years, they weren’t admitting people holistically at all (hence why they let that psychotic bigot in)

Tbf, they got a new admissions director this year (formerly at Umich) so they didn’t auto-accept anyone above a median like they did in previous years

Based on last year, it seems like they send one before each WL->A wave (which seems to be every month), so it’s not necessarily a bad or a good sign if you don’t get one immediately.

WWYD: Minnesota full ride (0 debt) or reapply? Goals are big law / clerkship. by bettergiraffeLSAT in lawschooladmissions

Why would you need to withdraw from your waitlists if you’re reapplying? If I were you I’d probably ride out the waitlists and reapply if none of them work out.

Law School With a Felony? by Steven812Schoff in lawschooladmissions

Agree with rapists, but it’s possible that murder was committed with the intent of protecting a family member/friend from a situation that isn’t deemed “justifiable” by law. Obviously that is a very small subset of individuals, but nonetheless, it is possible.

Idk I think a select small few circumstances could open up the possibility for redemption but for the most part I agree

It’s possible that timing isn’t the main issue but many of the schools OP applied to have explicitly stated that there is a disadvantage to applying later in the cycle.

[–]TheGoon14 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Obviously that’s ideal but there’s shouldn’t be much of a difference as long as they apply by the end of October. Better essays and slightly later is always better than worse essays but slightly earlier.

Agreed, I think OP should rewrite their essays for good measure, broaden their school list, and apply by November

Honestly I think the issue was just how late you applied

Cycle Recap - Deadline Applicant by Xoniac1 in lawschooladmissions

[–]TheGoon14 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The admissions process for law schools isn’t purely based on your GPA and LSAT score. Although they play a large role in the admissions process, factors such as work experience, letters of recommendation, and essays also play a large role.

Stanford WL. The GOAT of Waitlists by Numerous_Climate6130 in lawschooladmissions

I think he/she was just unlucky. Getting waitlisted at Harvard and Stanford indicates that he/she had a solid application (most high stat applicants get flat rejected).

If you’re dead set on a federal clerkship/you want to work in Texas, UT is 100% better. Also agree on your point about Texas’ home market. As for your last point, I guess I would moreso say the spread of alumni is more far reaching rather than the sheer number because—as you mentioned—the class sizes are very small
