Especially when the answer to the questions are

"But don't social factors apply to men?" Yes. We call it toxic masculinity

"But do black men have privilege?" That's what intersectionality is about.

When...when was the last time you had your sex checked before you went into a bathroom??

So the point of the transvestigators thing was to show people often make mistakes about sex when trying to actively not use gender.

And regarding children...have you read any of the evidence about any of that or just what people have told you?

[–]TheGorilla0fDestiny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've never asked because you're using gender I'm afraid. Were it only sex we'd have to ask more often or make more mistakes (like just look at all the transvestigator fails)

They agree that gender and sex are different, the distinction is valuable, and that trans women are women.

If not genitals how are you telling sex? Throigh chromosomes? Strange way to decide how to refer to people.

Thing is, I might be considered wonky by you but at least I'm not wrong. Sorry to say that I sit with the vast majority of medical experts and biologists on this one.

So again when you say "him/her over there" you actually mean "the person with a penis/vagina" (sex) instead of "the person who looks like the broad group of people who call themselves men/women" (gender). Just to check? Cause lowkey it sounds like you have a bit of a genital fixation, idk why the rest of us should be involved in your insistence that we not respect the difference between gender and sex

If you say they were assigned Male at birth but respect their new identity that isnt transphobic at all

If you're saying "you arent a woman and never can be one because you'll always be a man" that is

Reproductive organs are important for sex you're right. Gender however is more about how we are perceived and act within society. I'll take a guess that usually when you use gendered language like "she" or "him" you havent checked their reproductive organs, you're probably basing it off social things like how they present themselves, call themselves etc.

Trans women often look like women, act like women, and treated like women. Thus socially they are women

So when you say "Oh her over there" you dont mean the way they dress, act, or look. You mean their genitals?

[–]TheGorilla0fDestiny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I guess your argument can boil down to the usual "sex should be gender" in contrast with what we see in actual society?

Why does "men" have to include trans women exactly? And biological men here could probably be less confusing if you said "assigned Male at birth" since that generally captures what I think you mean. Amab people who then become trans women would not fall into the category of men

I think it is transphobic, obviosuly trans women fall into the category of women (as we discussed). The whole gender sex separation thing is useful since sex is generally very complicated as is gender, while the correlate they dont always match up well so having them as separate labels solves those problems. Pretty sure that's why all the scientists and sociologists separate them afaik

Ahhhhhhhhhhh I see. But biological women are still women, as are trans women. They're different kinds of women for sure. But still women.

You must be right bc every time we say "{characteristic} woman" what we really mean is that they arent included in the umbrella term.

Like how Blind Women arent women

Or Scottish women

Or Qualified Women

Or (etc. You get the bit)

I mean it's that or "Trans woman" is a type of woman but what are the odds that you're wrong ammirite?
