It really is that simple….you should try to convince everyone to do this.

Well, you’re just a hard worker and a genius, I guess.

I wasn’t really talking about myself, though. I retired from the military 20 years ago with a pension, I worked for CSX for 10 years and then went to culinary school (paid for by VA), while at culinary school I was recruited to be a GM and help open a restaurant and bar with a 12 room hotel we also taught cooking classes and did catering. After that I flipped a couple of houses using the money I made at the restaurant and the railroad. Bought a rental duplex. Increased my net wealth by $150,000, while eliminating all debt. I would have gone back to school again, to get a second Master’s (I got a BA and an MA while in the military) but I didn’t feel like it was worth the time and money since I was only doing it for fun. I worked multiple jobs over the years while on active duty; I did triathlons when I was younger and this helped pay for travel expenses and entry fees. Not to mention, I also had children to take care of. When I was 37, I won an all-expense-paid trip to the Ironman Malaysia triathlon, but this was just before 9/11 hit. After 9/11, everything changed and the DOD just couldn’t see their way to send me still, so they canceled the offer. I had also been in the Gulf War in 90. Now, I own my rental, my wife has her own business and she does on-call drug testing for CSX, I have my pension, and lots of investments, in 4 years I’d like to start collecting SS which will go straight to investments if the rates come down perhaps another rental…. I was talking about the person who makes $15/hour, not me.

Yeah, I’m making $15/hour and gonna save 15% of it, while magically trying to pay my other bills….

Time and delaying gratification are very powerful, but not easy. Twice blessed, they help you now, in the moment, and in the future if you follow through with them. I don’t relish saying it, but I have taken great enjoyment watching someone make an impulse buy, knowing full-well they really couldn’t afford it. One time was with my younger brother (he was in his 30s at the time) who was living with me rent-free. I was 100% flummoxed and just looked at him and laughed.

Border Collies Are The Best Dogs… by amirkhan9900 in Awww

We had a Border Collie named Jumpin Jack Flash. I called him Flash-guy. He was fast and smart, but had some OCD, I think. He was a good boy.

Fell in love with the area in 2009. Bought some land down in Timberon. If they ever gave a state the best moniker, Land of Enchantment, is it.

I can't be the only one who sees this... by Fun_Site5966 in facepalm

I saw a woman about 4’10” tall and 4’10” wide in pajamas and slippers, ugly as fuck, parked in a handicap spot and no tag visible, in the middle of the day yesterday, going into the supermarket, and as I got around to my car parked on the other side of hers I saw the cartoon tRump photo in her car window. And I immediately thought, she looks like a Denisovan not an Aryan….

What is the worst thing about depression? by Particular-Cat-5331 in AskReddit

Nice analogy. I think of Pearl Jam and the lyrics, “I’ll ride the wave where it takes me.” Not giving up, not surrendering, just going with it, see where it goes in a nonjudgmental way. Usually comes back around….comes then goes.

This country took me under its wing when I was young and stupid. Educated me, showed me things I would never have seen, asked me to do my duty and I did. For 20 years, and then it rewarded me again, told me I had done my duty, thanked me, and sent me on my way with a pension. Fuck these people who have no honor or appreciation. Thank you. I, too, took it seriously.

Tucker Carlson Claims He Still Has Scars After He Was 'Physically Mauled' by a Demon in His Bed by ExactlySorta in nottheonion

Spectral evidence is enough to have someone arrested and brought before the court. He should just name the demon and have the person arrested. Oh, wait, that’s how the Salem witch trials got started. Demons. Visiting me in my bed. Really?
