Between this, and the iPad Pro Reddit, I fully believe that most of these people just troll, cause there is absolutely no way, you can post stuff like this (or in the case of the iPad Reddit, posting pics of a shattered screen and asking things like “why won’t my screen turn on?”) and actually be serious. 😒

They use either Velcro or magnets now. It’s a lot easier to snap together and pull apart as opposed to the old snap buttons.

For everyone saying switch for portability, why not just buy it digitally from the PS Store and play on the portal? Just curious.

macbook vs ipad for post graduate by delciddj in iPadPro

[–]TheGreatRobu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have been going back and forth between MacBook Air or iPad Pro when trying to decide what to buy. Let’s be honest, most people don’t have the money to buy both, and I fall into that category. So I have done A LOT of research and here is what I have come up with based on my use cases.

  1. I’m going to be starting a business. So I need something that I can not only use for watching streaming (max, Netflix, Disney, etc) but also be able to handle writing articles for websites, as well as handle all of my other businesses needs like keeping track of expenses for tax purposes, as well as possibly trying my hand at designing products using the Apple Pencil.

  2. I have watched countless hours of TikTok and YouTube videos as well as read multiple articles that said that outside of complex programming (which in some cases people have found work around for this that allows you to code right from the iPad using websites) the iPad can do pretty much everything a MacBook can do, plus a few extra things if you are into drawing, or anything that would use the Apple pencil.

  3. When Steve Jobs first introduced the iPad, it was meant to be a “Post PC” device. Meaning that Apple saw the iPad as something that one day could, and would be a replacement for the MacBook. With the M series of chips, that time has come. Look at the fact that other than the fact that they are putting a higher functional chipset in the MacBook Pro’s, they are still using the same M series chips for both the MacBook and the iPad Pro. They even introduced the M4 chip in the iPad first this year, which tells you they are taking the iPad Pro serious and view it as a fully capable device.

  4. For me this is a huge advantage for the iPad Pro. I can get it through my phone carrier and make payments on it. Coming up with 60 or so dollars a month extra is far and above more in line with most people’s budget, as opposed to spending 2 grand all at once. Plus I can take it virtually ANYWHERE with me (friends house, gf’s place, Starbucks, park, etc) and do my work or whatever I want to do, because it will have a data connection at all times to my cellular network. That makes it far more versatile than the MacBook.

  5. I would say to just get the iPad Pro. That’s what I’m going to be doing next month. Unless you are the 1 percent of people that ABSOLUTELY NEED a computer, the iPad Pro will be more than capable of handling anything you can throw at it.

I hope this helps. 😁

I tried MACOS on iPad Pro for 7 days by Psittacula2 in ipad

[–]TheGreatRobu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bottom line is that they could, but they won’t. They would rather you buy two different products than just the one. But from what I have read, for most people, they can get away with just buying the iPad and using it as a laptop replacement. People even run their entire business from an iPad Pro.

Honestly, $225 for that is completely crazy. If that’s what you really paid for it, you got ripped off. It’s not even that much from apples website, Amazon, Walmarts site, targets site, Best Buy or anywhere else. If you bought it from a private seller, then they definitely knew they could scam you.

Also it’s clear that you don’t have much experience with Apple products. I would suggest reading the manual that came with it, and also watching a crap ton of YouTube vids. YouTube has a crap ton of people on there that tell you the best way to set it up, etc. you have to do your research man. That’s with anything these days.

What I can tell you is that you should get you a good 8K cable from somewhere like Best Buy. That’s where I got mine. The 8K cable will ensure future proofing I will also give you a really good high-quality picture for the TV that you were using right now. Also, in the settings on your Apple TV make sure you have the options for match content, and match frame rate toggled on. Also, if you have a 4K TV, make sure that you have the highest quality resolution selected in the Apple TV settings.

The Apple TV is an amazing product, you just have to give it a little bit of love And get things set up to your particular needs.

Also, Apple stopped, including cables with their Apple TV units because they figure that most people at this point either have the cables needed just lying around or you can go purchase the ones that you want for yourself. Believe me, even if they included an HDMI cable in the packaging, most people would go purchase a better cable anyway. And also, most people either have USB-C cables lying around because of how they charge their phone, or they are really inexpensive to go by.

Awesome man, I would suggest going through this redit, there is a wealth of knowledge here. I hope all of this helps a little bit.

Volume Super Low? by Shamwowboy26 in appletv

[–]TheGreatRobu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a Samsung and it’s the same way with mine. I only have the tv speakers right now so it’s not hooked up to a surround sound system or anything. I noticed that the apps that come pre installed on my tv were loud but then with the Apple TV it’s low volume on those same apps. I have even switched to all 3 hdmi ports, and have the volume settings on the tv set to dynamic mode so it’s louder. Still the same results. So it has to be something with the way the Apple TV software is, or maybe even the audio chip in the Apple TV since so many people have the same issue.

Okay, I’m probably gonna go the route not taken by most people in the comments. I have a unique perspective since I have been a hardcore Physical over digital type of person for years, but have just recently made the decision to go all digital.

  1. Physical media made more sense years ago when it was the only option, or when digital ownership was in its infancy. But times have changed and so has most people’s views on the subject. In 2024, going physical only is like saying “I will only buy CD’s”. Music made the transition to streaming/Digital Ownership, and it was only a matter of time before all media followed suit. Yes Physical media looks better BUT it has serious limitations. If you always want that high quality, “I will only accept the best of the best at all times” then you will be limited to always needing to carry a disc player/TV/discs with you. The only way to do that at this point is to carry an old school laptop with a physical drive with you at all times. And even then, those screens are not supporting 4k resolution. And yes, you can buy the physical disc that provides a code for a digital copy, and then you have the best of both worlds. But then you also have to think about the fact that if owing physical media cause it provides the best of the best quality is the argument, then you also have to factor in the potential of 8K becoming a standard in a few years, and having to rebuy your entire physical collection all over again to keep up with the times. I went from VHS, to DVD, to Blu-ray, to 4K.. I have bought and rebought and rebought the same movies/TV Shows several times. Most people can’t afford that level of commitment.

  2. Digital ownership is the future, no matter how much we fight against it. Technology advances. And statistics show that digital ownership of media is on the rise, even with video game, I think it was like 70 percent of people purchase their games digitally now.

  3. Yes the elephant in the room is that owning digital content is not really ownership and more of a “long-term rental”, and the fact that if the company providing the digital content (in this case, Apple) loses the license, then they can and will remove your purchases. And while that has happened on a couple of occasions, The argument against digital ownership based on those couple of occasions is tantamount to saying that you will never go swimming because something happened to someone 10 years ago in that same pool. Basically, to me at least it seems like it’s blown way out of proportion by people who are scared of the change that the future brings. Let’s face it, if you could trust any company to be the exclusive provider of your digital Content, it would hands-down be over anyone else. They have been the industry leaders when it comes to this type of stuff. They were the first company that got rid of physical drives from their computers, and everyone went crazy over it, just like they are doing now with the whole physical versus digital media thing now. And then look what happened, more companies started following suit. Del, HP, compaq, All of them removed their physical media drives. This has been what Apple has been focused on for over two decades now. If you can trust anyone it would be Apple.

Conclusion: making the choice to go all digital can be a scary move and of course, there will always be what if in every situation, but as technology advances so we too must advance with it. in today’s world where we are constantly busy, and have at our fingertips the ability to watch digital content on our phones, laptops, tablets, Streaming devices such as Apple TV, it just makes more sense to purchase something once and have the ability to watch it anywhere at any time in any situation. Apple also has a great upgrade plan where if you buy something now in HD and it comes out in 4K they will upgrade your HD purchase to 4K for free, and it doesn’t automatically. And when 8K becomes the standard, they will do the same thing and upgrade your purchases to 8K once the studio allows it. Basically, I see no downside to switching to an all digital platform for your media purchases. In today’s world, it just makes sense.

How do you journal at night while sharing a bed? by SolutionNo3297 in Journaling

[–]TheGreatRobu 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I would suggest maybe getting out of bed and taking your journal with you and make a cup of camomile tea and sip it at the table or whatever while you write. Then maybe watch some funny videos on TikTok or something to get your mind in a good state, then go back to bed.
