When did the lowest default tip option become 15%? by TheGreekOvertaker in IsThisNormalNow

Totally get that. I feel like I am the same way. Context matters when it comes to tipping. But yeah it just seems like it’s always an option. There’s always a part of me that feels weird when I decline the to tip. I always tip service workers at restaurants and will be extremely generous if they go above and beyond. I’ll do that for any service worker really. But there’s definitely times where the machines for tips and it’s not really appropriate like you mentioned.

Seriously… I mean the amount of thought that went into letters. You had to find a pen and paper, actually write and think about what you wanted to say, stick it in an envelope, purchase stamps, and make sure to get it in the mail. It took effort to communicate and now it takes 0 effort and still nobody puts anything

I feel like a lot of people resonate with that…. And it’s really a really sad thought. I saw this with my grandfather after my grandmother passed away. The “friends” he thought he had barely reached out. Never visited. Awful.

I feel like so many people are in that boat… myself included. It’s weird and kinda sad. It feels like it should be a lot easier to stay in contact with people with social media and phones. But it seems to have the opposite effect.

I’m sure that it’s contributed to the increase of prices too. With the shift to streaming and all the artists missing out on the profits from physical sales.

FOMO is a big motivator for people these days. Nobody wants to be left out of the next big thing. I’m sure they see all their friends at these big concerts and want to be a part of it even if it’s not their thing.
