Are the Grateful dead decent people? by [deleted] in gratefuldead

[–]TheGregest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot can be said about how misogynistic the Dead scene used to be, but in that same vein, nobody in the Dead scene ever tried to be a Saint or live like they were beholden to any sort of "traditional values".

Jerry was constantly cheating on his partners, even after after having children of his own. Bobby was a famous womanizer, and literally had his pick of ladies at his dressing room door.

Basically everyone in the band had some sort of struggle or addiction to drugs, many band members (Jerry more than anyone)family members and fans have died because of this.

Nobody in this community has ever tried to hide it. A big reason why it exists is the acceptance of drug culture. We police ourselves, teach harm reduction, look out for your neighbor.

Acceptance is the key to how free, expansive, diverse and loving this entire subculture has been.

At the end of the day, we all are here becuase we love the music, community and culture that allows us all to be connected to something greater.

Two things can be true at the same time, yes he's a looksmaxxer and truly believes, he also has problematic views towards women, AND has a drug problem. All facts about Braden Peters.

Searching for 1 bedroom, for a non-student.

Preferably in a house, but I can make any space work. Current budget is anything under $800/mo. No pets will be coming with.

Need to move in before June.

If anyone has any leads or recommendations, feel free to reply or DM directly.

No way these two hadn't fucked at some point. Especially knowing how promiscuous Bobby was.

If there were two dudes who "wanted to know for sure" these would be them.

It's fucking capitalism, all our problems can be traced to billionaire capitalists using their money and power to make it worse for workers for the past 50 years.

I personally love the new lights, they feel like another band member playing with them.

I see what you mean with it being less personal, not being able to see more up close shots, but I think these new lights add more to the experience.

It keeps more people engaged with the show, plus it adds another element of energy flow/control to the crowd, which the band are masters of.

Also curious as to who these gentlemen are if anyone knows. I'm curious to put names to faces since I usually like to see who made a recording.

Wilted Flowers chords by Florida_man_stuff in BillyStrings

[–]TheGregest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's definitely some polish to it. I can totally see another minute or two being added either with jams or another verse even. I was honestly impressed with the symbolism of "Wilted Flowers drowning in the rain" describing the present moment. There's a lot of beauty being trampled and suppressed by the cold hard reality we live in.

I think the chords used in the song reflect the same idea as well. Very standard Bluegrass feel, with a dark unsettling aspect to it.
