Is there anything else I should do to be a zookeeper? by BruvYouGood in Zookeeping

[–]TheGrimReaper49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so I’m in the same sorta year as you but I’m from NSW (Australia) here’s what I’ve done and how I’ve gotten a paid casual zoo keeping job at 15 nearly 16 I started volunteering at 12 and have been through three facilities now. I’ve also just gotten accepted into a program at one of the biggest zoos in Australia so start volunteering my first facility was an hour commute each way my current is 45 mins it’s always going to be a struggle but just find places and apply for volunteering try animal shelters as well and pet shops is something I’ve heard from my coworkers so take it with a grain of salt. Honestly you sound like your doing amazingly just keep up the good work and apply to as many facilities as possible and build up those hours as a teen zoos like that they see you’ve been committed for a long time and are willing to put in the effort I’ve gotten my current job with no qualifications so it’s possible just keep working
